Love walking down to the river and around the duck pond with my granddaughter. Pre's Trail begins and ends here in the park. A short walk from many restaurants and shopping in Eugene. Great place for a group gathering or family outing. Frisbie golf course on the grounds.

Just a stone throw's away from our hotel. Walking alongside the Williamette River. The path fairly easy and flat. Great for kids...playground area with lots to do and see. Check out the archeological pit and do your own digging!

I enjoy coming to this park when I am in town to visit my grandmother. River runs through it and its got lots of beautiful tree. Areas to swim during the summer and the park is very large. I've heard the fishing is great here as well. I actually just did some professional photos with family and that was the location. During the summer they do alot of concerts, this summer we sat outside and listened to Stephen Marley and Slightly Stoopid. Great park and always look forward to going back during my visits!

When I walked along the River Walk, I ended up in Alton Baker Park a few times. It was a nice park, and I found a special spot where I could hear the rush of the river and really relax.

I walk through the park when I go to Oregon football games. That's fat lest 6 times a year. I go see concerts at the amphitheater every summer. I've biked, fished, swam (your not allowed to do this) walked, hung out, thrown a frisbee... Ok you see where I'm going. This park is a short walk from downtown. It's large, it has lots of fun things to do including a "solar system". I won't explain it, just go do it. Great running trials (though this is decades ago for me) and if you want to just park yourself in a stand of tree and do all those fun Eugene things that you might not want everyone to see? Many places to choose from. You could spend a day there and not be bored.

Alton Baker Canal:Trout Fishing its Awesome! No its Unbelievable in Eugene Oregon.There are so many beautiful things to see & do in Eugene Oregon it truly is becoming my favorite place to fish & visit my girl parents. I just love being here, its a fisherman dream.Just the other day I went out of Depoe Bay bottom fishing & crabbing had a great trip.Today I wanted to try some freshwater fishing so I did some research and decided on going to Alton Baker Park canal. Went onto DFG websites to find out where I could locally go fishing and Alton was my choice.They stock this Park Canal almost every week between 500-1000 stock trout fish yes that's no joke!According to DFG. These stock trout range from 8-12 or 16 inches in length.Its location is perfect just 5 minutes from my girl parents house. All you need is to bring your fishing licence a light weight spinning rod & reel with 4lb test.split shot sinkers.or 1/4 oz carolina rig leader & Power bait.Orange or Chartreuse color.and a old pair of shoes cause the ducks use this park for there bathroom.Within less than an hour I had limits of trout which is 5. Wow If only my friends could see me now.You know But even before I had arrived I had decided in practicing CPR (catch photograph & release). Every fish I caught.I release back into the canal unharmed. Fish were actually jumping out of the water several times.I never have caught so many trout in a short period of time.Wish you were here!I could of easily taken them all but I chose not to.Unfortunately I did see several other fisherman going well beyond the limit.I really consider this unnecessary andUnsportsmanlike. Please lets follow the rules keep what you can eat or let them go and let's be honest & fair so that others especially children they are the future of this sport so they can also enjoy the beauty in having that experience of fishing Well my stay has come to an end so it was Another beautiful day among the ducks, grey squirrels, Herrons, Geese, that I will always remember spent in Eugene Oregon catching trout in Alton Baker Park Canal.Till next time Happy Fishing!

We were in town for the MSU Spartans v the Oregon Ducks football game and were looking for a place to run. The hotel recommended the Alton Baker Park. It is close to the football stadium and was a few miles from the hotel. We drove over and parked our car. The trail is well marked and goes along the river. Part of the trail is shared with bikes but parts of the trail is strictly for runners. The trail is marked in quarter mile increments and goes out for about 4.6 miles so you can pick the distance you are looking for. It is a very scenic run with many nice views of the coursing river. Many locals come out and sit on the benches along the trail reading books or just watching the abundant wildlife in the area. There are porta-johns along the course of the trail but very few water fountains. Parts of the course are shaded but much of it is open to the sun, so be sure to bring sun block and fluids. This is a great area for running, walking or biking and you can tailor it to your needs.

I spent 5 hours here walking along the river while my car was being serviced. There are great places to sit and people watch or read a book.

This park is so beautiful and conveniently located, it's too bad I can't visit it often. Frankly, the number of ducks and geese there has grown completely out of control. They need to thin the heard by 80% (at least). Duck and goose poop cover so many of the walking surfaces; it's disgusting. It just turns me off, so I avoid the park. But many people absolutely love it, and it's especially fun to take young children down there to feed the ducks. Ironically, I used to do that on occasion when my children were young. So, visit at your own risk!

Lots to see and do here. Hiking, biking, kayaking, bridges, ducks, geese, frisbee golf, gardens, nature center, special events, water features, islands, sculptures, and other things I'm sure I missed as I was only there one day!

This place is amazing for feeding ducks/sea gulls/geese. My husband and I would bike here near daily because it's a great place to walk/bike around, and also the best place I've ever been to to feed the birds. There has to be at least 200 birds all on one spot. They devour 2 loaves of bread in less than 15 minutes (and that's slow feedings) and will walk right up to you. If you throw bread pieces in the air, the sea gulls will swoop down and catch it mid toss! There is also a section with neat trees, and a man made small river/moat around the park (which dugs, dogs, and nutria swim in). Oh, and if you go at the right time, you can pick blackberries in the park! This place has it all!

Gotta love this park, it has a big duck pond, bike paths, bridges, lots of gorgeous scenery, occasional art shows, ez parking, and it is right off the Ferry Street Bridge and Centennial Blvd. A bit tricky to get to (use a map or regret it), but worth it.

While the entire park runs along the Willamette River, it is the dog park that really stands out. It gives true meaning to the term dog "park." Not a dusty lot under a freeway or a postage stamp patch of grass, but, a real park. While I didn't pace it out, it must be about 2 acres in size. There are water bowls for drinking and tubs for the water doggies to play around in. The western area is designated for small dogs, but, I did not see this policy in force as all the dogs mixed freely. The visitors were mostly locals and the dogs generally are well behaved.This park should be a model for all dogs parks of the future!

Nice Park to bring the family to on a nice day and watch the ducks and geese (but don't feed them). Lots of room to do any number of activities. boat rentals sometimes available.

The park is a nice large quiet space for recreation and to get away from the city, even though Eugene is not that big.There is a fantastic display of American Nobel Peace Prize winners, as well as displays for some of the planets of the solar system, the rest of which are down the Willamette River.I biked through the park, but it would have been nice to run on Pre's Trail.
