What can i say..went to university here, went to football and basketball games when we sucked..but track was always excellent ... met my wife there...go ducks!
My son is a freshman there this year and he is having a great time and they have been nothing short of awesome to him and to us being parents from out of state.
Basically, your plain run of the mill campus. Sure a few nice buildings but no real sense of style or a college feel. Ok to drive around but anymore time is a waste.
The successful football program has obviously brought a lot of cash to the U of O campus, and they seem to be spending it wisely. Lots of new buildings and expansions to the gym and other facilities. Great for a stroll, rain or shine.
We walked around campus on Thanksgiving, enjoying the misty rain and the very quiet campus. My daughter will be transferring to nursing school soon, so I was taking in this stately and serene campus with a sense of melancholy. I have really enjoyed visiting her here, and love Eugene. Oregon is a terrific school with amazing resources and facilities, and the diversity of the student body is one of its strengths, in my book. The campus isn't overwhelming, but it isn't all crammed together either. Beautiful buildings, astounding trees, and lots of neat shops nearby when a coffee needs to be found.
Besides having great football and track and field teams, the UofO is a very fine university with some first rate academic programs, such as music, business, journalism and the sciences. Any one looking at colleges for a relative or friend would be smart to investigate the University of Oregon.
Great campus, stadium is walking distance. Very friendly people. Beautiful stadium, great atmosphere, great town
Beautiful campus known for its abundance of trees and interesting buildings, both old and new. Give yourself time to enjoy the walking paths, original Deady and Villard halls, Pioneer Mother and Father statues, Ford Alumni Center, and "Uncle" Phil Knight's buildings (library, law building), among others. s
This is a great place for a Lovely autumn run. I ran 15th street through campus. Pioneer cemetery is really pretty and I ran by the historic track and the b-ball arena.
I have relatives who attended University of Oregon and enjoyed attending the school. When I was in Oregon in September, I enjoyed driving through and seeing the campus (albeit due to fires in Oregon it was a bit smoky throughout the state.)It was good to see the University of Oregon Ducks Football team and fans a month later at Levi's stadium in Santa Clara, Ca. The Ducks played awesomely and won the football game. (sorry - I was rooting for my alma mater Cal Bears). It was still a fun football game.
The campus isn't what I would call gorgeous and I really expected more given how pretty Oregon is. It's just buildings on streets over several city blocks. Hayward Field is spectacular although it was under construction with a huge tent in the middle when I was there so I didn't get to see as much as I wanted.
I was taken aback by some of the really strange negative reviews. Folks, this is a university. The campus is beautiful and green and has some lovely old buildings. It's a nice place to walk around and soak in the atmosphere. There is a large pioneer cemetery adjacent with interesting old headstones. I happen to be an alumna of UO so visiting held special meaning for me; it's hard to say how I would have viewed it if I hadn't attended.
I am an Alumni, graduated almost 20 years ago. Still love to visit for sports events or concerts. A lot has changed over the years but still has a small campus feel. Absolutely gorgeous campus, that is why Animal House was filmed here because ti looks like an Ivy League school.
Loved it...nothing to dislike. The university is 100% geared toward a college experience. Matthew Knight Arena and Autzen Stadium are state of the art
The only drawback is Eugene which while trying to open inviting and inclusive gives cover to the aberrant addicts and unfortunates who then have have developed advocacy groups. This great beautiful university is threatened by Eugene which cannot decide if it wishes to be trendy or a haven for the aberrant like a small inner city Detroit Michigan
