ruby crest national recreation trail

This trail is a must see and do for serious hikers... or do part of the trail if you only have a day to hike.

A 45 mile hike over the crest of the Ruby Mountains. Altitudes of over 10,000 ft. are not for anyone out of shape. Long distances between water in some places, but the things vistas you will experience are totally awesome. Usually takes about 5 days on foot-3 on horse back. No motorized vehicles allowed which is fine because most gasoline engines don''t run well at these altitudes.

This is beautiful, pristine mountain country. The scenery is absolutely breathtaking.
