We stopped in the Delta Saloon and read up on the suicide table and played a few games on the slot machines.
I came to the Delta because I wanted to see the famous suicide table. I love history and anything haunted. It was featured on " Mysteries at the Museum" one of my favorite shows. Many of the buildings have also been featured on " Ghost Hunters." The saloon is old and has a bar, gift shop and slot machines. If you love history than this is a nice place to visit. The city is located high in the mountains on a 2 lane road. I do not suggest visiting in the winter time because it does snow and people tend to speed.
I came in for a drink and check out the place and the famous Suicide Table. The atmosphere is great and you can buy souveniers like t shirts, shot glasses,.. Walk around and enjoy the decor and head to the back for the famous suicide table which has signs telling you the history of hte table.
I won a free drink on the old-time slot and the rotten old slag at the bar told me I had to put another quarter in to clear the ringing. Then she slammed the free drink sign in front of me, walked away, then never came back to give me the free drink. Horribly sad little piece of garbage bar. Whoever the old slag at the bar is...this is your life honey...I can see why you're so bitter.Don't EVER waste your money in Virginia City, much less this waste of space bar and nasty slag bartender.
Another awesome saloon! The machines in Virginia take coins which is awesome, playing like it was!The suicide table in the back is a piece of history. Theres a booth were you can buy an old newspaper which silly headlines costumized by you! Sit at the old bar and grab a drink! They claim to have the best bloody mary in the hills but i havent tried it yet.
Yep, I'm a gambler and from Nevada. I frequent casinos and bars and nightclubs. Virginia City is the home of a parade for any and every occasion you can mention. I was last there Halloween night and OMG, what a show. This Saloon is my fave because I can drink, gamble and watch the parade from the picture window without being outside. I always win here on a particular machine so obviously that makes me like it even more. You get a good stiff, cocktail and a great hotdog here that will carry you through any parade. The locals are pretty entertaining because they dress like who they might think they were once upon a time. For the most part, they are friendly and usually have their pets with them. Lots of shoot 'em up and free entertainment. Don't miss a visit to the Delta, it's a great spot!!!
Not too crowded . Friendly workers. Suicide table is the attraction--- people who went broke killed themselves there. Not too smoky. Neat little place with a lot of history.
We did not eat here. We did order drinks, which were good. Reading about the suicide table is interesting enough. Gambled a little. The sign outside draws you in for sure.
We enjoyed seeing the Suicide Table - and the historic pictures surrounding it. The historic bar here is fun to have a drink at. There is a small casino as well.
We have been going to Virginia City several times a year for the last four years. We got the most horrible service and food ever this morning. The waitress was not very friendly. We had a party of six for breakfast and didn't have to wait for a table but waited for EVERYTHING else. We were handed menus then the waitress disappeared without asking if we wanted drinks or coffee. Over 10 minutes later she finally came to take our order for food and drinks. 20 minutes later we FINALLY got our coffee. Well 3 of us did. They were out of coffee and waiting for another batch to brew. There were only 3 other tables in the restaurant. 10 minutes later the other coffees came out. By this time we had been there almost an hour and had just gotten our drinks. About 15 minutes after that the food started arriving. Again SOME OF IT. 3 meals came out first. 10 minutes later another meal came out. We were then informed that the eggs Benedict was taking longer because they had to make the hollandaise sauce from scratch. Another 10 minutes and the hubby and I finally got our breakfast. The rest of our group was done eating by then. We were given a half hearted apology and told "some" of our two meals would be comped since we waited so long. The hash browns were mushy and the hollandaise sauce greasey scorched and broken. We BOTH felt sick within half an hour of eating. We will never EVER eat there again!
This place is nice to sit and do a little gambling. The tale of the suicide table is interesting and the food in the ajoining restaurant is excellent.I mean prime rib and eggs and the prime rib was a very large cut.We will make sure to stop by if we eber get back into town.
We just stopped here for a minute to have a look at the Suicide Table. There were signs for it on the drive up and they stoked our curiosity. But it wasn't until we were actually looking at the table that I had a sense of deja vu. I asked a friendly employee and she confirmed it, the table had been featured on Mysteries at the Museum! I really enjoy getting to see places and items I've watched on television for myself and this was no exception.
we had so much fun on our last trip to Virginia City. We go every year. The people are friendly the food is good the atmosphere is like nothing you'll ever see anywhere else and the Delta saloon was our favorite place to go have a drink they have a bartender there named Kathy she was long beautiful blonde hair and she is the friendliest nicest person you will ever meet!!!!! PS she rescues animals and so tip her well her money goes to good causes
one of dwindling places that still has silver strike machine. I always end up winning one. Machines are old, but this is an old town. Lots of history, take it all in. The rest of town is definate must to check out. The cemetery at end of town is very interesting
Don't forget to see the globe. Place overall is a dump. Worn out and full of smoke. The table has a very cool history if you believe it but it's definitely worth a stop.
