This museum has a decent number of interactive activities for preschool and elementary school kids. I found many of the activities to be similar to what would be offered in an after-school program for children of working parents. With a few exceptions, I did not find the activities to reach educational levels beyond what kids would be learning at school. I did not think it was worth the price of admission for an adult visiting without children, and I thought it would be most useful as a place to take children when school is not in session and they are bored.

This was a fun museum for our 5 year old granddaughter. Our 10 year old grandson got bored early into the visit, although, he did like the panning feature and the train driving simulation. I would recommend this museum for younger children.

Great place for indoor activity (escape from heat or out of cold). Better for younger kids - 8 and under.

It's a good place to entertain your kids and be educational at the same time. They had areas where the kids learned some history while playing. An small table to draw some animals step by step. I have to confess I did that one! Teeter-totter airplane. A locomotive simulation with real buttons and such for them to pretend. An upper level to play games, build things, play tic tac toe against a computer, play checkers, a rock climbing wall. a jungle gym with a slide. All indoors.

It has been several months since I took my two grandsons but this stands out as a highlight experience for them. It is really not a "museum" but an interactive play area. I had expected to stay for an hour, but after five hours and still not having done all the activities, I called for a meal break. As a teacher for over 30 years, I (really they) found this to be a fun learning/doing place for a very nominal fee. I plan to bring the youngest grandson out when I can.

Parents and Grandparents will enjoy taking the kids here! You can take them in to a safe place to play and learn! Lots of things for the kids to do and see. Highly recommend the Children's Museum!

What a cool place for young kids! Lots of hands-on displays. Science displays, going to the grocery store, dress up, cars, visual treats. Could keep kids busy for several hours!

It is wonderfully interactive. I enjoy it as much as the kids. I've been taking visiting children here for over 15 years.

This museum is really small - one room in fact. But for the low admission I bet your kids will have as much fun as ours did. There are "scientific" activities, climbing, real-like shopping, dinosaurs, aeroplanes, small gift-shop... The slide didn't seem very safe to me, so keep your eyes open. This place is good for couple of hours. If you want something more, go to Reno Terry Lee Discovery Museum.

Many of the exhibits werent working when we were there.....and some were broken although my great grandson didnt seem to mind........they were very helpful by letting me in by an elevtor as I had trouble climbing the stairs

I am a resident of Carson City and this museum is probably somewhere in the middle of the reviews here...not great but not terrible. It will never be a place like the new Discovery Museum in Reno but it is a good place to take the younger kids to run around and play for an afternoon. They are trying hard to make the exhibits better and clean up the place. They have some new activities on Saturdays and have some arts & crafts/pottery activities too. They used to have a children's theater and that was a great part of this museum but I heard that they moved to a better venue which was a loss for this museum. Overall, younger kids will enjoy themselves.

Tired building with broken and sad "exhibits". Really just a space for local parents and grandparents to let their children run around without supervision while they read or talk on the phone. No better than McDonald's play space (without the benefit of food) and they actually have part of an old McDonald's climbing slide as part of the museum. Looks dangerous to me and I wouldn't let my child on it. Save your money and drive to the new Discovery Museum in Reno.

Although this museum is not big or flashy it happens to be the right size for young kids to run free while remaining under supervision. I have been here several times with my five year old and two year old and they occupy themselves for 2+ hours. The museum is seldom crowded, offers plenty of parent seating and you can purchase drinks, snacks and gifts. Beware of:Crankiness of staffSlippery wood floors (I make my kids keep shoes on or take socks off)Inconvenient stroller/wheelchair accessThat being said this is a great spot for young children (1-10) to explore, play and socialize. If you are local the yearly membership is the way to go.

My daughter and I have been to this museum easily a hundred times. Thank you for all the great memories

I have been taking my son since he was 18 months old. BOTH my kids ( now 4 and 6) beg to go back weekly. We buy the very cheap reciprocal pass so we can enjoy this museum and other's around us. They do Science on a few Saturdays a month. The exhibits are all hands on. It is rather unfortunate that some things were broken due to a break in. Who in the world breaks into a children's museum and destroy's exhibits?????????? I do what I can to donate time and money so this little Carson City gem cam stay open for a really long time!
