We were there over the labor day weekend and while all of the other beaches were full and lots closed round hill pines had plenty of space available. Absolutely loved the tiki bar, the rum runners and painkillers hot the spot on a hot day. The water was Tahoe clear and cold! The only thing I didn't like was all of the boats parked and pulling up to the ugly pier marring the view of the beautiful area. We'll be back for sure!!
The water was beautiful and clear. This is the first time I've been swimming in clear water like that.
We came here as a group and brought shade and chairs but if you forget to bring these you can rent them out. You can rent out most water sports and they have a tiki bar and restaurant for food. The restaurant was decent and the tiki bar's signature drink, The Painkiller, was worth trying. We rented a paddle boat and was surprised at how hard it was to work it. It was fun as our whole group got to take a turn on it not realizing how hard it was. We tried to rent paddleboards but they seemed to be sold out most of the day. There are a lot of crawfish by the rocks and the kids loved looking for them. The water was cold and the sand was course but overall it was a great day.
Been going here for years. Great beach, great Rum Runners lousy parking. A little disappointed that it was taken over by Camp Richardson. The Rum Runners will not be as good but maybe they will put some frsh money into improvements. Only time will tell.
We were just driving through the Lake Tahoe area and wanted to get closer to the water, so we just parked for free on the western shoulder of US50 north of the Resort/Marina intersection (across from the fire station). You can hike in from the highway (several trails) and enjoy the nice beach with southern / western exposure at no cost. Day parking for the Round Hill Pines Marina is $8.
Great beach but get there early if you are going to go on the 4th of July especially if you want to rent a tent. We rented kayaks and SUPs. Rental prices are slightly lower than the other beaches. You cannot reserve them ahead of time but we had no trouble getting the kayaks and SUPs when we wanted them. Super awesome burger! I ordered a coctail from the tiki bar - the drink was just ok but I didn't care. I was on a beautiful beach on a beautiful day in beautiful Lake Tahoe.
When someone invited me last week to hit the beach at Tahoe, I was reluctant, as weekends at Tahoe beaches can test ones patience with crowds, parking, traffic, etc. They suggested Round Hill Pines, a beach I'd never heard of. What a nice suprise.First off, this is not a hard to access, out of the way, super private place. But on a Sunday where Sand Harbor and Zephyr Cove were overflowing and required parking on the hiway and hiking a half mile into a zoo, we simply drove right in, parked 50 ft from the beach in the shade of pine trees, and had easy access to the car and a safe parking spot. The beach is stunning, views unparalleled. The crowd was sufficient to feel like you were somewhere happening, but not overly crowded. Pine trees provided a shade area maybe 50ft from the water, or you can set up camp on lakes edge. Amenities include a pier with rentals for virtually any kind of water toy, jetski, kayaks or beach comfort items. If you rent umbrellas, a guy sets them up for you, digging them into the sand with a power drill. There's a full service bar right on the beach with a frozen drink specialty called a "Painkiller". Quite tasty on a hot day! They even have waitress service right up to the waters edge! There's a large shaded deck with a grill serving your basic BBQ fare, not bad. There's even a heated, gate swimming pool just off the deck area that guests have access to if the ice cold Tahoe lake water isn't your thing! The crowd was more family oriented than the "Spring Break" type. Lots of kids. Not a lot of drinking, crazy college kids or teenager. Lake drops off the beach very gradually, lettting you wade out quite a ways before having to start swimming, making it again ideal for kids and families. Overall a great location, great amenities, easy access. $8 entrance and parking and reasonable food and beverages. Rentals were reasonable as well.
Our family comes here 2-3 times during every trip to Tahoe. We love the beach and its beautiful view. It has the prettiest background for pictures. We rent chairs and umbrellas. We also rent jet skiis and kayaks. Perfect place to relax
We visited mid-week. There is a price break if you rent early ($30 before 10:30 am). We rented after 2 pm and were suprised that the harbor was not crowded. The staff was patient while they explained how to safely operate the rentals. We were permitted to take the watercraft up to a mile out from the harbor. I have rented jet skis elsewhere where the company permitted you to ride on a limited course. This location permitted you to enjoy yourself and have complete freedom within the one mile limit. What a blast!
Loved this little gem in South Lake Tahoe. It is well appointed, easy to access, clean, great staff, good access to activities. There is a bar on the beach for the drinking crowd and a lovely grill that offers fresh burgers and fries for lunch. Staff also will take beverage orders while you lounge on the sand - super friendly! We went during the week at the beginning of summer, and it was not crowded - just wonderful. Our long time favorite Camp Richardson has lost some of it's appeal, so we were happy to find this new spot. However, the same management company owns this location now, so we hope they keep it's laid back friendly vibe!$8 per car - staff at entrance should have better working knowledge about offers on the beach and facilities, but maybe they were new and not familiar with the updates under new management. They were also super friendly, just not well-informed.
Went to this beach over Labor Day weekend. The beach was crowded with both families and party people, but everyone seemed to co-mingle just fine. I saw no fights or drama, just fun had by all. The sky was blue, the water beautiful, but cold, which is expected in Tahoe!! The beach was clean, I felt fine walking around barefoot, even in the water. There were lots of attractions, both for families or party people, including paddle boarding, jet skiing, rides on a ferry boat, kayaking, and more. There were also places to eat, and get drinks, as well as waitresses who came out and brought food. It was a beautiful day!!!
Great time just hanging out at the picnic tables right on beautiful Lake Tahoe! The curly fries are great and every item we ordered was fantastic! This is one of our favorite beaches. You do pay for parking, but then are refunded with validation. The prices were great, considering we had such a great view and got to do so much people watching and relaxed catching up with our family! Don't miss it if you want lunch with a view!Oh, this is also one of our favorite beaches to hang out at for the day. Why? There are all the amenities you might need available right there!
Often renting paddle boards can be tricky. Old boards, heavy oreven damaged boards. But Round Hill has great boards. Try it!
Best place to spend the day on the beach in Lake Tahoe with a fabulous view! Bring your own picinic or order from the grill and bar. Jet ski rentals and water toys are available for rent or bring your own floaties and use their compressor to fill them up for $1. The also rent pop up tent style sun shades and chairs or bring your own.
Despite advertising that the beach was open from Memorial Day through the end of August, the beach was essentially closed on the second to last day of May. This came as a surprise to us, and to the hotel concierges throughout the Tahoe Basin that recommend this beach/resort. The beach is comprised of small granite granuals (a bit too course to be called "sand"). The view from the beach is, at least at present, marred by a pier post digger which looks like a slightly smallish oil drilling platform -- a bit out of place against the backdrop of an alpine lake and the surrounding mountains. The snack bar was closed. The jet ski rental was closed. The cruise boats were closed. The beach cabanas were closed.....well, you the reader get the idea. Lake Tahoe is a majestic lake and it would be next to impossible to manage to create mediocrity out of something so spectacular. Yet, Round Hill Pines somehow managed. It's quite an accomplishment, but not one of which they should be proud.
