Every year a group of us from Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri, and Colorado get together and play golf for a weekend. (playthewest.com) Wild Horse is one of our favorite courses to play. This course is almost always in good shape with wide fairways, hard fast greens and gigantic bunkers. With the wide fairways comes views that make them look narrow and force you to visually cut off sections. If the wind is blowing, forget about it. The clubhouse leaves a little to be desired, but who spends time in the clubhouse. The folks in the clubhouse are great as long as you are keeping pace, if you drag your feet, they'll push you on out. If you have not played this course, it's one that you should. We typically play Wildhorse, Bayside, and / or Heritage Hills as a collection of courses over a 4 day weekend. If you miss the fairway, there's a chance you can find the ball, but it's typically a little rough to get it out. One of my favorites. Enjoy

Always our favorite stop on our yearly golf trip. Played three times this year. Terrific layout, condition, service and fair price. Great club house. A must stop.

Thus is one if the best golf courses in the US for the $$. It's a links course in great shape. The fairways are beautiful and greens run fast and true. Don't hit approach shots above the hole or you will regret it. The staff is not as friendly as they used to be, it seems like they have dropped off a bit in upkeep. Trash in the parking lot, dirty bathrooms , etc. but who cares its a great golf course. Ignore the rude guy checking you in and go play it.

I can't believe I'm the first one to review this place. This course is great, some call it "Sandhills Jr." It's a true Links-Style course in the Nebraska Sand Hills and you can actually afford to play it. 18 Holes and a cart is under $60. This course is consistently in the top 3 to 5 of Nebraska in all ratings guides, and it's public. Quarry Oaks and Wild Horse are my two favorite public courses in Nebraska by far. Some people even prefer Wild Horse over Semi-Private greats such as The Prairie Club and Dismal River. If you are a golf enthusiast in the area, you simply can't afford not to play Wild Horse. If you want to make a trip of it, The Prairie Club is 3 hours north in Valentine (Semi-Private) and Bayside is under 2 hours West by Ogallala (Public).
