Positives: relatively small venue with great house-of-blues-type atmosphere and sound system for seeing bands up close. Probably my favorite place to see a handful of my favorite bands. Off-chance for you to meet your old-time legend at the bar after the show. I shook hands with one of my favorite guitarists, a legend to me. Negatives: bathrooms are not big and clean enough to handle the crowd. They really need to invest some money here. Food is mediocre at best. The only reason to eat dinner is to get a good seat -- but you can get almost right up to the stage for the whole concert this way, another way to see your band up close. Seating arrangement for the dinner tables is perpendicular to the stage so you have to cock your head or body to a 90 degree angle to face the stage. I know they can seat more people this way, but come on and get creative here, canyon club! This applies to the front table by the stage as well as the back tables. Standing room only tickets are a good way to see the concerts without having to buy dinner, but it can be hard to get drinks if the bar is too crowded. Overall it's one of my favorite live music clubs anywhere.
This is a very small club, I don't think you could get more than 100 feet from the stage without leaving the building. Two large bars but the line never ends. Nice table seating for dinner before the show. I didn't eat the dinner so I cant comment on the food.
You have a choice you may have standing room for a ticket price. To have a seat you may come in between 6-8 pm. You do need to make a reservations. The food is average, prices are high and depending on the main group, the prices may be higher. If you are seeing a big headliner the prices go up.I realize that to some people this maybe costly, yet for a big venue the tickets are the same price and a meal is not included. If you chose to be seated and have the meal, at the end you pay the same as if you were in a big venue, but you are not up close and right there next to the band. When you come to this venue, it all comes down to who are you seeing and who the fans are.My husband and I have been coming to this venue for 8 years, been through the hot, crowds, bad food (not all the time), the occasional unskilled sound man, water down drinks, etc. So why do we keep coming? The up close entrainment, the quality of the music and the great staff. The staff goes out of their way to assure your happiness. Even when the are way understaffed, you are greeted with a smile and a sincere apologizes.Once, due to a mixed up we were given free tickets, special guest table, which they did not have to do, but they did it regardless. So I am very pleased with this venue. You also met great people, you share great music and it is very family style. The question is: Do I want to spend my time and money on a big venue or a small personable one. If you enjoy good music and meeting interesting people, this is your place.
they say" if you want a good seat, you have to have dinner" so we did. food was overpriced and not so good. just before the show started, they let those that did not eat and have a place at a table in. they took over !!! standing on front of you, and literally pushing you out of the way. cant say I will go back.
We will never go here again. Without giving too many details, here is why: 1. Yes, there is free parking (thus it does not get a 1 rating) but it is inadequate and fills up hours before the show. 2. The place was packed. There had to be 400+ people in a place clearly designated for no more than 250. The Fire Marshall would have had a field day. 3. Service was one-step from ignoring you. We waited half an hour and then had to get somebody to find whoever our server was. She was nice but, even by her own admission, they were overwhelmed. 4. Food was banquet style at best. My chicken was overcooked and tasteless, while the beef smelled good and was O.K. Even the mashed potatoes (if that is what they were?) lacked any taste. 5. Seating was horrible. We paid extra for "premium" seats and were shoved parallel to the stage, so you could not see the band and barely could see the performer. 6. They had TV monitors all over (obviously not seeing is a common occurrence). Of the two I could see one of them alternated between black and white and color and the other one was so blurry it was barely legible. Have they not heard of Hi-Def? 7. Prices were outrageous for the tickets and the meal, especially considering the above. 8. The rest rooms were not only in disgusting shape but were 5 stalls for several hundred guests (in both the men's and ladies rooms). Note that these are not just our comments; they were shared, universally, by not only the people at our table but everybody around us. The consensus was we will never go here again, no matter what the show. We have been to the Saban Theater in Beverly Hills which is owned by the same people and, for other reasons, is not a very good place to see a show. This place makes the Saban look like Carnegie Hall. Somehow they get really first rate performers - if you must see them watch them on T.V. and avoid the aggravation.
We saw Craig Shoemaker here and had excellent seats. He was so funny we cried for over 2 hours straight! Dinner was nothing special as I was warned on other reviews. Would gladly pay a little more to have better food, but....? Two dinners and drinks and for two were with tip about $125. Would return for musical entertainment. Would love to eat elsewhere, but since this was our first time and I was surprising my boyfriend for his birthday I wanted to make sure we had seats as we don't like standing for hours. Might be different if musical band/dancing. After show we went across the street for Gelato!
My wife and I attended the Lucinda Williams concert and Lucinda was fantastic! She is in a class by herself as a performer and song writer. We were attending the Canyon Club for the first time, having bought tickets online through Ticketmaster. The employees at the Canyon Club were all friendly and helpful. The sound was good as was the bar service, two separate bars. I did not like the seating/floor arrangement for watching the show. All the seating seemed to be at the sides of the stage area, except for a few dinner tables right up front. We were told to get to the venue by 6pm to get our pick of seats in the "Gold Circle" section for a 9pm start time. (The opening act came on at 8pm) We got pretty good unobstructed views from the seats we picked, but others had poles in their way, their seats turned away from the stage (where they had to turn their seats around after their meal) and other seats partially blocked by the open area right in front center of the stage reserved for people to stand and watch. All quite strange to me. Although we did not eat dinner at the Club, they seemed to have a decent enough menu including steak and lasagna. The food looked okay. Great show by Lucinda, but average, at best, viewing area for the so-called expensive seats.
Nothing but Good People Run this Place Lance,Jen,Michell,Michael,Ed,Sarah, I am a bit bisaed as My Cousins work here and do a fine job but they have some of the best Bands and a Beautiful,Comfortable Club really enjoy it every Time I come

Went to hear some live music and the air conditioner was out. Lots of people and no air! No very organized place ...had to ask for the severe to bring water about 3 times!!!
Well set out, easy service at the bar, and great sound system.Coco Montoya and his band put on a terrific night's entertainment.
there are a lot of big acts that come to the Canyon Club to get ready for a concert tours and there are also many groups that were big in the past and now play smaller venues. The prices are very reasonable and its a small club atmosphere. Many times you can interact with the artists after the show. Highly recommended. You can also purchase dinner for an additional fee and sit closer to the stage.
Fun place. 2 bars and a large dance floor. I've only been on Thursday nights, so I'd recommend that night
I went yesterday with a cople of friends. The show was better than I expected. They had the Willson Phillips concert that was great. However in order to get a good seat to enjoy the music you must have a dinner reservation at the club. The entrees range from 23 to 32 dollas. The BBQ salmon that I ordered tasted bland and dry. My friend ordered the same and had my same comment. My husband's New York Steak was good but the side vegetables horrible, non flavorable to say the least. The othe couple's food was also mediocre. For he price one would expect better quality of food.....
This local venue typically has a good music whether its a headliner like BBKing or a local group. The food is limited and barely average. The ambiance is also not great. Go for the music and go to Wood Ranch or Hugo's next door for dinner.
