We stayed 3 nights in Santa Rosa long row full hook ups. The sites are very small but you walk 30 yards and you are on a great and safe beach. The campground was sold out for spring break so I expected a loud night. But to my surprise it was quiet and everyone just hung out by their campfires and relaxed. The camp host was awesome, very friendly and helpful. Plan on waking up everyday at 700am, that is when the first train goes by. The state is upgrading the facilities, removing dead trees and trying to make the campground real nice. If you need a large site, have a big group and like to party late this is not the campground for you. Also, big rigs do not fit in santa rosa, maybe 36 footer if you get the right site. I hope my review helped, happy camping...
My husband and I were in town in May of last year for my cousin's wedding. One morning, we went and had breakfast then bought some cupcakes and walked to the beach. It was beautiful! We ate cupcakes on the beach, then took a long walk. I'm not sure if the people on the beach were residents or visitors, but everyone was kind and friendly. We were dreaming about moving to Carpinteria just for this beach!
town beach nearby was free and very nice, i have to write more characters before they accept the review so I will write some things that are irrelevant,
I love this beach. I have not been there during the summer, but during the winter this beach does not have a lot of people. The surf is very calming to listen too. It is not called the most safest beach. It is a swimming only. No surfing, dogs. The campground there is also very clean. A lot of spaces to park for camping. Has a very large grass area for playing, soccer, football, baseball, Frisbee, etc. The restrooms are very clean as well. Very close to down town Carpentaria. Highly recommend this beach along with the campground.
There is great camping at the state park. Lots of trails available along the beach & bluffs near by with seal rookery. Have lived here all my life & spent many, many days enjoying what it has to offer.
We stayed in Carpenteria for the night. Cute town with a great beach which is perfect for families. Clean and easy to get to. Main street is walking distance from the beach so a good place to grab lunch or dinner.
Not many people there in February and lovely 75 degree day. The small group of surfers down at one end was fun to watch.
Local tar pits are situated here. the main section of the beach is pretty and clean. I went for a run quite away up the coast and the smell of oil was quite off putting. the oil rigs can be seen out in the ocean. wouldn't be my 1st choice to swim.
Beautiful beach. My mother and I spent a couple of amazing days just lying on the sand. It's good sand. And good sun. And good ocean. What more do you need?
A wonderful state park feet from the Pacific Ocean and restaurants galore. Shop keepers were pleasant and helpful.Clean bathrooms and views to die for
Nice clean beach and friendly people around. Beautiful beach. Great weather, cute town. I would definately recommend it to travelers.
Really nice quaint town and beach just outside Santa Barbara.Nice grassy area to walk our little dog but no dogs on beach really limited our stay
Carpinteria is more quiet than nearby Santa Barbara. We prefered is town and beach for the evenings of our stay. But shopping and culture is netter in Santa Barbara.
Nice beach to walk on in January. Not crowded, and not cold. Watch out for the tar. Use WD-40 to get it off of your shoes.
This is a great place for swimming as the seas aren't toorough. Clean water, clean white sand, never too crowded. A little slice of paradise!
