A beautiful and intricate piece of art. Please remember to take off your shoes before entering the Mandir.
If you happen to be in the Chino Hills area and you are looking for a truly unique experience you definitely need to visit the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir! It is truly an amazing structure with an equally interesting history. I had the pleasure of a personal tour. Very interesting and enlightening! Well worth the visit!
I've visited three times now. The first time we had no idea what to expect and found the volunteers to be welcoming and allowed us into the Mandir. The second time we attended an open house event and learned a lot about the construction, architecture, plans for growth, seva (volunteering), Hindu culture and social responsibility.Visit the Mandir after 4:30pm but don't miss the museum downstairs to learn about what you're seeing. It's an incredible place!
I have visited many temples in India. However, to see similar work in North America was awesome. The work, the funding, the dedication and the love for Indian culture made us feel home away from home. God bless those who are keeping Indian tradition alive all over the world. The prayer room and the carvings on marble and wood was truly inspiring and amazing. There is also a food court behind the temple that serves vegetarian homecooked Indian dishes to the visitors at a very reasonable price. The gift shop has some good Ayurveda and natural ingredients, incense, idols and books that may interest many visitiors. The volunteer guides are so friendly, knowledgeable and dedicated. A must see if you are in that area. Especially during the Aarti time. It is special, charismatic and divine to see how the idols are decorated and prayed to with devotion and love.
I checked out the website of this mandir and learned a lot about their beliefs and customs. I then toured the facility, which was beautiful. It is amazing they were able to build something so beautiful in today's world as we don't seem to pay attention to as much detail as this building represents. I would advise anyone who desires a cultural experience to take the time to tour it.
Words cannot express the amazement of visiting this spectacular place. We discovered by accident when we noticed the high spirals of the mandir from the freeway and then realized it was only a 2 minute drive from our hotel. This Hindu place of worship is for all to experience. The beauty is equal only to the kindness of the people there. Who would have thought to find such a place in Chino Hills, CA!!
Amazing place and must see for all Indians visiting Los Angles area. Temple architecture is beautiful and lot of effort is put in make each sculpture. Food served is a plus and rates are very reasonable.
I felt transported to another country. This place is absolutely gorgeous: imported pink sandstone, marble and hand carved wood.
Visited India 23 years ago and today it brought the best memories back - Amazing place. Enjoy the visitor center and temple. Don't forget the small informative area under the temple. Interesting! .
Unlike anything I have ever seen in the U.S. Unfortunately, its in the middle of no where, so really not enroute to anything. Good enough for a day trip outside of LA. You'll spend probably an hour there at most. I like that it is actively used by the community.Hints: Cover those knees and shoulders--wear pants or a long dress, otherwise, you can borrow a sarong to cover up. Also, note that you will be asked to leave your shoes outside, so wear socks and bring a back up pair to change into for afterwards. Too bad I wasn't hungry, I wanted to try the food. Parking is free and it was not too crowded. You have to be silent in the madir. It's all free, so please be respectful of others.
If you like to see amazing things that human beings can do, this is the place to visit. The mandir has amazing stone work. The whole interior is made of italian white marble. It is hard to deacribe the incredible carving work, you have to see it dor yourself.
Very interesting facility. Intricate carvings and exceptional workmanship create a spiritual place that ALL can appreciate. Visitor center, museum and temple are staffed by welcoming, informative individuals.
I toured BAPS Temple yesterday and could not get over its beauty. The woodwork is so ornately carved and it was well worth it to go inside the Mandir as well (all white marble, in contrast to the pink stone outside). I sat in on the 11:15 am religious service (about 15 minutes long) and really enjoyed seeing everything inside. Tour guide Bhavir did a wonderful job, and Peter P. could not have been more friendly as a host. I believe you have to make an appointment online if you want a full tour, otherwise you can drive in and see the outside of the temple up-close, as well as the reception area. There is not a fee to come in, however, you can make donations during teh religious service or in the reception area. Just beautiful.
You can help notice it as you drive by on the freeway. We stayed at Ayres in Chino Hills and it is almost right behind the hotel. After looking it up on-line, we went for a visit. The amount of detail was amazing
