long ridge open space preserve

Off Skyline, just after you pass the Palo Alto City border going north, this hiking area is on the west side of the road. Parking is at the Grizzly Flats sign on the east. Be careful crossing Skyline. The trail starts out slightly downhill and then as one turns right, one hikes up a fairly steep hill. We did this loop in two hours. Beautiful views as one reaches the top. Other trails provide longer hikes. Most of the trail was in the shade which we didn't need in November, but it's great in the hot summer. No water, no bathroom facilities, so come prepared. On a Tuesday, we met only a few other hikers and a few mountain bikers.
