My family just returned from a two night camping trip at the Jellystone camp ground at Cobb Mountain. This camp ground has received so many bad reviews, I wanted to share my own to give another point of view.We camped in August, 2014. During this time, the pool was up and running. Yes, this camp ground features a pool, pretty nice for 'roughing it', right? Also, working showers and flushing toilets in a well-maintained bathroom facility. The campground also offers peddleboats and kayaks to tool around in their pond. My kids thoroughly enjoyed doing this repeatedly during those two days. There are 1,2 and 4 seat bikes available and also an on-site mini golf course ( I did not use this, so I can't say the quality). I thought these were wonderful features for the campground to have. My kids are young yet for hiking, so these short little endeavors were perfect for us.The campground also hosts daily art activities free of charge and a free movie after sundown. It looked to me that all sites have electricity and water running to them. The electricity box, however is only configured for an RV hookup and you will need to bring a converter if you are tent camping. There were some negatives to this camping trip, however. There is animal skat EVERYWHERE, possibly deer, but I'm not sure. It would have been nice if before our group had arrived the area had been cleaned out as some of these piles did look to be quite old. But again, hello camping! This is not unusual, right. I'm just pointing it out.A large group arrived at the campground on one of our evenings between the hours of 10 and 12 at night and set-up/socialiazed with loud music until 3 am. Some campgrounds have someone on staff that will go around and 'police' this kind of behavior...none of that here...just hope your fellow campers are considerate when you go.There is a long-term camper here who owns chickens and roosters. That damn rooster will start his call at the first glimpse of sunlight around a quarter to five and continue on until about 7:30. Couple this with potential rude neighbors, and it can be a rough night. The picnic tables are almost all in pretty bad shape and in need of replacing. In the sites our group stayed at there were no fire pits, but there were these badly rusted badly warped mostly falling apart metal BBQ boxes. These are not staked to the ground and are easily moved around. So, my overall review. During the day...FANTASTIC campsite with plenty to keep kids occupied. The staff was friendly enough, with one woman seriously going above and beyond to do a good job...including not being afraid to yell at some yahoo to cruised into the camp ground WAAAAY too fast, which I appreciated. During the evening for sleeping and cooking...it's a little rough. Just be prepared.ALSO! There are not many large trees. In the middle of August shade was at a premium. It you are not RVing remember to bring a sunshade.
Enjoy a beautiful drive through heavily forested areas and sit outside with a latte at the cafe/bookstore. Inquire about local hiking and mountain biking areas closeby.
Refreshing air and even the buildings are a delight snuggled in the peaceful redwoods fun relaxing and just breathing deep there
Was great resort destination in the 40's, my parents loved itright after WWII. Unfortunately nothing much has changed since then. Has beautiful scenery, a couple of nice golf courses, and a couple of good restaurants. They geysers have helped to keep the area going somewhat.
13 friends3 reviewsAnna O. Clearlake Oaks, CA 7/12/2011 We stayed in the "A" Frame House it was perfect. 2 Bedrooms down stairs and a upstars loft with 2 more beds. Full Kitchen and a propane bbq on the deck. We had a great time and stayed on a saturday. And most of the day on sunday. Swimming, Paddle boats, Mini Golf, and race carts even visits with yogi and booboo we missed the hay ride but got to see it go by. The kids loved it! Allready booked for next year for 2 nights. Some friends of ours booked a cabin it was close to the pond and was also really nice. Looking forward to our next visit!
If you plan to go to this RV campground, we recommend that you DON'T stay in the $200. a night A-frame cabin. The whole place was filthy--the carpets had gross stains in every room and looked like they'd never been cleaned; the bathtub had not been cleaned and when we turned on the water it was ORANGE (rusty). If you stay here, bring your own drinking water! The campground is filled with fun activities for children, but the rental fees are extremely high. Our favorites were the new (and quite fabulous) miniature golf course and the free hayride with Yogi and his friends! Campers, this place is DUSTY and dirty.
Cobb Mountain is in Lake County, California, about a half hour from Clearlake. The area is so beautiful and relaxing. Deer roan the area with confidence. Retreat to the tranquillity of Cobb. A vacation of a lifetime at Beaver Creek RV Park & Campground.
