Very good Pinot Noir, but $55 is a little bit high. I bought the 20011 Foley Pinot Noir Jack Ranch for $55. Tasting fee was $10. Beautiful location in the Santa Rita Hills. Very nice tasting room. Good service.
We went to Foley as part of a four-winery tasting on a Friday. It was our last. The wines were excellent but, I felt, overpriced relative to the other wineries in the area. However, the building was beautiful and the wines well worth tasting.
Visited here with Stagecoach tour lately and this was about the favorite of the day. All the wines were very good, but the pinot noirs were all outstanding, as good as any I've had from Sonoma or anywhere else. The JH Ranch pinot was my particular favorite. Service was friendly and knowledgable, and I like that they use the nice, wide Burgundian glasses instead of the cheap ones a lot of other places use.
We joined the Firestone wine club last spring, when visiting the area, which included us in the Foley family of wineries, etc. Had not been to the Foley Estate, so stopped by on our latest road trip with Winston and Jack. It was nice, the tasting was good, but not dog-friendly, so Jack and Winston missed out. Not so with other wineries in the area!
Very unfriendly with privet transportation company who bring customers to there venue won't help you with internet service to help you to find other directions to other venues if you hire a transportation company to take you for a wine tour do not stop there poor customer service
We visited this winery today and I was surprised. This was not our first visit to foley, we've been club members for several years. However we have not been happy with the customer service in the past. This afternoon was really very nice, we had a personable server who was knowledgable and happy. What a nice surprise and it makes such a difference to the whole visit. And by the way, the wines are very good and pricey.
This was a wonderful venue for a wedding. The ceremony was out on the grass with a great view of the vineyard . It was a bit windy, but it was so warm the wind felt good. The wine tasting and appetizers after the ceremony in the winery and on the patio was very relaxed and plentiful. Dinner and dancing in a big tent on the lawn was beautiful. The only thing that you should know is that wearing hi heels is not a good idea. There is a lot of grass and you sink in, it can be tricky!
The women pouring wine must have had a long day because they were full of attitude. A shame, because I like the wine, but had no desire to stay. Very pretty tasting room and nice space to have a picnic with a bottle of Foley wine.
This was our last stop on our wine tasting afternoon. Luxury Limousine provided our driver, Richard, and limo for the tasting. Richard had been in touch with us multiple times while we planned this excursion and helped choose the vineyard to visit during our stay. We had a package at the Fess Parker Inn which included a number of wineries in town and out of town. For those out of town we decided to hire a driver to make the day easier and safer. It was also a lot more fun as well as educational. Richard knew a great deal about the vineyards on our list as well as about wine and the history of the area. This whole experience was great, thank you to Richard. This was our last stop during the day and after tasting a number of wines, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir are the big wines here, we decided to have our lunch. At first we were hoping to be able to eat comfortably in the facility. There were comfy chairs and tables. But after bringing our food inside, we were told that we could not eat indoors. Not sure if this is a state law or "house" rule. What ever, Richard made what could have been uncomfortable into a plus. He just took one of the tables inside and moved it outside, with the help of the women in the pouring room. They brought chairs out for us and it turned into a great afternoon. All in all this was a wonderful experience. We purchased a bottle of wine as well as some chocolates to take home.A wonderful afternoon.
Very relaxed ... very pleasant staff ... and the wine is excellent. They have a wonderful patio area that provides a wonderful place to relax and enjoy a glass of wine.
I had been a club member but dropped as they had changed their offerings in Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. But what they are tasting now, even the ones at a reasonable price are great. And the top of the line is fantastic. The majority of their product is from Santa Rita Hills which is famous for the two grapes. The tasting room was very friendly. I joined the wine club again. this is especially good now as the Foley holdings have been extended to a number of first class wineries in Santa Barbara, San Luis and the Napa area.
Our favorite place to go for Chardonnays. They have one that will appeal to everyone's taste and certainly allow you to experience the craft that is winemaking as you work your way through the flights with the friendly server explaining exactly why the wine you are enjoying tastes different from the Chardonnay you just finished. Their wine club is a great deal if for no other reason than the family of wineries you get with it including Firestone in Foxen Canyon.
Commercial wine tasting at it's best. Foley is part of Firestone is part of like 12 other winery chains. The wines aren't bad and the place is beautiful but the pinots are really over priced compared to what you can get in the area, The crowd this vineyard attracts isn't the very interesting either-- a lot of people who think they know a lot about wine. A little fake and posery. And I think the people who pour the wine are trained to pour to this type of clientele. That's what sells the wine not the wine. You are not getting what you pay for. Meh, next.
For 40-75 per bottle, you'd think the wine would be outstanding and unique but that's not the case right now. I had purchased a foley Pinot at a grocery store for $24 the week before and was more pleased with that bottle than the most expensive one on the tasting menu. Maybe there will be better vintages available next year. I'd spend the $10 on a tasting at a different place
Our first stop of the day since they open at 10am. A nice tasting room and their wines are delicious.
