This place is special, you can get a nice dinner here, the food changes on a regular basis and is well prepared. There is an excellent bar, well stocked, and staffed so you don't have to wait in line forever trying to get a drink. The espresso coffee is also very good is you need a pick up. But the real point of this place is the music and that is simply top notch. The acoustics of hall are exceptional as is the sound system that the performers use. Only caveat is that the hall is limited to about 300 people, so you need to get tickets early if the shows are over the holidays or if there is a popular performer that night. One last thing to consider, there are some tables on the sides of the hall and they will serve food if you want, just get there before the show because it can get quite crowded.

THis has been "new" for about 4 years now but they did such an amazing job converting the Old Sweetwater into this new and fantastic place. Outdoor seating and little cafe/restaurant is totally separate from Music/Event room so can enjoy under all conditions.

We traveled about 4 hrs for Ryan Bingham's show. Arrived 3 hrs early so we could get a good spot for the show. Ended up having some food and drinks while we waited. Ordered a few filet mignon sliders with horseradish and some craft beer and margaritas. The sliders were to die for!! The beer was great and the margaritas were nice and strong. We sat outside even though it was chilly, they have outdoor propane heaters on their patio which made it nice and warm. Candle lit tables with fresh flowers so it was romantic Love the atmosphere. The show later that evening was amazing and we sat with the owners Bonnie & Bruce Winston very nice couple. We will most definitely be back soon. Already bought tickets for another show in a month.

So many famous music venues have played and even started here. A place for our culture to connect with itself and to others through music. The history of talent is world class.

A Marin institution, Sweetwater is one of the nicest rooms I've ever been in for listening to music -- and because of its reputation and where it is there is a ceaseless parade of diverse music on offer.

The only reason I don't give this place 5 stars is the limited seating. Oh, most people will manage to find a seat and perhaps they put out more or less tables and chairs depending on the crowd. I got there early and there were almost none out yet, but they rolled them out just before the show. There can be a lot of standees, and if you are at the floor level tables, they can block your view. MY TIP: For the best seats in the house, grab some of the high stools (there should be 4-5) at the back of the room on the bar level over to the far side immediately in front of the sound control area. Not the low seats at forward counter/table there (you won't be able to see as well), but right under the sound area. There will be a narrow counter behind you to hold your drinks. You will have the best view and sound (exactly what the sound guy hears). Those seats tend to be ignored, so you might even find them vacant if the rest of the place is full, like we did. I can't take full credit. A new acquaintance figured this out. He was right. Also, the food is rather good if you want to dine before the show. The bar has a very good beer selection on tap. There is a free parking lot across the street with no time limit after 6PM.

If there is a concert at the Sweetwater Music Hall while you are there you must go! Great little venue that offers an intimate setting!

Great music, great bar and a great venue in a warm, small town atmosphere. What more could you want. We've seen everyone from talented local acts, to the great Albert Lee, to David Hidalgo, and Robert Randolph & The Family Band. Get there when the doors open if you want to sit or lean on something.

We were there in March for their once-a-month Trivia Night and the only problem was the fact that we didn't have a bigger team. The place was full of eager participants and the host (Howard Rachelson ) was terrific. He had a nice variety of questions, both visual and written and all participants had a grand time. We had sliders for dinner that were delicious. This place is primarily a music hall and they have a very full schedule of events every month.

We visited Sweet Water Music Hall on our visit to Mill Valley last week and had a great time. It was Valentines night and they were having a sold out show inside. Since we didn't have tickets, we sat outside on the patio. The night was lovely. The service was great. We would definitely go back.

The Sweetwater has been around for decades, and the music is always great. I love the open mic night, because we've got so much talent in this town to get up there and do whatever they're working on. The old place just had popcorn to accompany your drinks. Now, in its larger, spruced up location, it has good food. The sliders are a treat, and the chef is doing a good job of sourcing locally. So glad people got together to save this gem!

We have seen many shows at the Sweetwater and, except for the noise of people talking at the bar, it is a great venue for music. As a Sunday brunch cafe, however, it leaves a lot to be desired. The food is pretty good, although on the expensive side. The real problem is the service - or lack thereof. For some reason that does not make sense, the cafe requires guests to stand in line to place their orders which are then delivered by a waitress. On a busy day, that can be a line of 10 or more people. We had ordered mimosas. They were duly prepared and left at the bar because the waitress was under 21 and could not serve them. Fine, except it would be nice if someone told us that! We ordered egg dishes, which were goo. However, the side of bacon only arrived after we went up to the counter to ask for it. Same with the 4 coffees. Finally, one person had a bowl of granola. $6.75. Really?? If the Sweetwater is going to run a cafe during the day, it needs to get its act together.

Cool place. Came during the day for a drink. Nice employees and atmosphere. Bummed I missed the show last night but the actual music hall is gorgeous.

Great food and music....just like the old days in Mill Valley. Great outing with a group. Dress is casual.
