This was a nice little iconic jaunt and we had fun driving through the tree. We had a mini van though and the mirrors were a problem. They luckily folded right in and we made it through to the little gift shop on the other side for our commemorative flattened penny. They really should have something you can drive between to make sure you fit before you get in line or a sign that says 'please wait your turn here' back a bit. If the mirror trick hadn't worked I have no idea what we would have done. The line behind us went up a ways and had already all pushed forward to right behind us. Seriously, don't expect common sense tourists. No one but us held back to be sure the one ahead was good to go that we witnessed. Just a thought to the owners! Otherwise, worth a fiver in our opinion.

I’d save the $5 entrance fee on this one. The tree can handle a smaller compact car, but frankly, I found more impressive trees and groves along the Avenue of the Giants (south of Eureka) and in the scenic drive through Redwood National Park (between Eureka and Crescent City).

This was actually kind of fun. We were looking for something a little different to break up the drive heading south and this was perfect. We arrived early and only had a 1 car wait before our turn. The Mrs. jumped out and took the pic's as you will find it hard to do that once you are stopped in the tree!!.Great little gift shop right there when you are done.Enjoy, we did!

We enjoyed the drive through tree. We only waited while three cars in front of us went through and frankly it was fun to watch so many people get such a kick out of the tree. The entire experience was like a blast from the past.

Cost was $5 per car to see the tree. If you do not have a smaller vehicle, you won't be able to drive through the tree and must take a different path. There is a gift shop and pond, and not much else. Would not recommend if in a large truck or suv.

just like my childhood memories, It was cool to look for my dad's and his dad's initials in the tree. (even though I find it appaling that they marked up a landmark! LOL

We took the 1 up from Fort Bragg all the way to the end at the 101, and that was a fun drive, and since we were in the area decided to see if we could fit through the tree in our SUV! It was pretty much what we expected - $5 for a nice little scenic drive through their property to the tree - VERY slow drive through, lots a pictures my wife took as I crept through the tree. Its a one time thing, and if you are in the area it is definitely worth it.Beware - the place has not been updated since it was built in the 50's or 60's - it has "bathrooms" but it was a quick in and out to those!

After our long windy drive from Fort Bragg through the redwoods, how could we not visit the drive thru tree? It was exactly as expected, a tree that you could drive through. I was glad there was no line or anything so it literally only added $5 and 5 minutes to our trip. I'm glad we did it, no need to do it again.

Not a whole lot to say about this - it's a tree and you drive through it. It's cool because it's a novelty. Don't go on a weekend when there are a lot of tourists around or you will have to wait in a line for a long time to go through the tree. I went on a weekday and there were only a few cars in front of me, which was nice. The gift shop is huge! Everything in it is very reasonably priced so it's a good place to get souvenirs.

We stopped at this tree on our trip to the redwoods. It was a great start to our visit. My nieces loved driving through the tree. This is the place to stop, don't bother with any others.

Drove up from San Fran which was along drive to see this tree. It was a 3 hour drive. $5 was very reasonable admission per car load. Very cool to see such old trees. Drove thru the tree twice. Great picture opportunities. Only bad part was driving back to SF.

Okay, a big tree? Familiar story, especially in Redwood country. A big tree that's really old? Same thing. A tree you can drive through? Now there's a nice twist. And people have been driving through this tree for many many years. It was way cooler than either of us expected. A nice old piece of Americana, attached to memories of our parents that were tied to family vacations of driving across the country. And of course, to stand among the otherworldly Redwood, to breathe in the lush forest air... let's just say, you won't find another experience quite like being in a forest grove like this. There are many redwood attractions to visit, but this was by far our favorite. It seems to be privately owned by a family, which surprised us, and yet it shouldn't be surprising I suppose. We are just used to so much conservation and national forest land that it seemed strange. Either way, it is well worth checking out. I think the fee was about $5. I helped a few solo motorcyclists get their picture taken with the tree... very nice people, as were the people running the place.

I bought a new Harley in Seattle just so I could ride it back to Florida. I couldn't pass this up. This was so cool . The redwoods are amazing! Words can't explain them. If your in the area you must see these trees. Someone from Germany ran up to me and asked if I wanted them to take my picture. Very nice and one of the few pictures I have of me on my trip.

Yeah, we drove through the tree, and yeah, we took photos for another family of tourists and they returned the favor. While that was all very predictable, what we really enjoyed was the gift shop. It has some of the usual fare but mostly unusually interesting stuff! I bought a high quality redwood barrel fountain pen for $39 and use it regularly. There were lots of interesting items like that.

Surely a great experience to drive thru a tree.. there is a small nice gift shop.. but nothing else.. so dont expect anything else, just go there to experience a drive through a tree :)And yes, the lady at the entrance was wonderful..
