Nice big beach, the waves are awesome to learn to surf, you are surounded by southern california wildlife like pelicans and sea lions. You can park you rv during the day and night for 28$ at the beach, it's cheaper then most rv and state parks.
We spent a whole day there, and loved it. It was very clean, with plenty of sand past where the surf comes in, to kick back and soak up the sun or play. Restrooms are provided mid way and there is a playground for children at one end. There are also fire pits provided, & we found ourselves wishing they had somewhere nearby to buy firewood. The only draw back is there is no nearby free parking.
Plenty of room for everyone to sunbath, play in the surf, walk or jog or anything you like to do at the beach. Surfers are always around too. Lifeguards are always patrolling . Bathrooms are available but could be pretty disgusting.
Bordered on one end by the San Luis Rey river (sandy beach when it isn't flowing), this popular location is so inviting. The beach itself has about 3 large covered settings for a multitude of picnic tables, offering respite from the sun. Barbeques are in the area, too. The sandy expanses are great places to spread blankets and watch the active surf. But, if you decide you want something a little different, head toward the marina from the parking lot and rent any one of a number of water vehicles, paddle boards, etc. and get out there!A great number of interesting coffee, sandwich, and gift shops invite the visitor to relax. Although we did not walk around to the further-most side of the marina and beach, there were more shops there, too.
Lots of parking to go enjoy this great beach. Plenty of room to walk and enjoy everything in the area.
parking is a premium at this beach area. get there early for parking. he beach is very clean. The downtown area has a fair every thursday evening. Plenty of different foods and merchandise,
Oceanside is great for boating, fishing, and hanging out on the beach. When it is sunny and warm, you can find us there! There is all kinds food places and restaurants for all comers. Be sure to plan ahead for parking as well. Sunsets are Great!
The harbor beach can get packed on a summer day with the locals coming from all over to enjoy the beach and surfing. Get there early to find a place to park as the spots fill up quickly. Also plan for the day with blankets, food/beverages, towels. Beware of the seagulls.
Very enjoyable and relaxing, nice place for a family outing, nice setup with restrooms, showers, picnic tables, playground, gazebos, grills and fire rings , convenient parking
Lots of food, clothing and souvenir shops nearby. Parking is a little tough in the summer and costs $5.00 near the beach. You can park for free near the shops or on the other side of the railroad tracks. There are fire pits but you have to get there early to get one.
Lots of sand. Parking can be a hassle, might have to park a few blocks away & walk to beach unless you get lucky. A couple of shelters, a hose off area, portapotty. Close to boat launch. You can walk to the harbor area for food, drinks, & a "real" restroom.
I'm not a really experienced beachgoer, but I loved the size of the cresting waves (so do the surfers), the lack of crowds, and my kids collected loads of seashells. We will definitely come back.
Great beach lots to do, parking close by, restaurants, live music, BBQ area with beanches, bathrooms. Perfect for a day at the beach.
Nice beach, great place to watch the surfers and enjoy the sand and surf. Full facilities - life guards, showers, bathroom. This beach seemed less crowded than the pier beach next door.
Loved Harbor Beach and the area surrounding it. If you stroll along the walkway away from the beach, you will find quaint souvenir shops, restaurants, and vendors selling from carts. The Harbor is just that. Boats and palm trees adorn the area. It is such a fabulous view!
