This is a great family spot. The railroad is worth the trip alone, and the burger place families will enjoy. While not busy on weekdays, weekends can get busy with an outstanding farmers market, and at times, events that are all family oriented. In the summer there are outdoor movies, and the fourth of July, Labor Day and Christmas are all well done.Poway Days is the big deal of the summer and worth taking the family.
Old Poway Park is a wonderful spot for the whole family. Adults will love the charm of a nice shady, clean park, the great farmers' market held on Sat am. and summer concerts held at the gazebo. Children will love the play areas and the train that runs on the weekends. Christmas in the Park is by far the best event to attend. Too bad it is only 1 day .
This park is perfect! We had my grandson's third birthday here! It has a very old-fashioned feel. Big trees, picnic tables, a train station and trains to ride on weekends.LOVE!
Our very good friends tied the knot on Valentines day at the Old Poway Park. This park is packed full of charm. The weather was perfect. There is a little burger restaurant right in the park. Train was cool, the whole park is very nice.John & LynNita Ellis
We love the historic nature of Old Poway Park. Great place to spend a Sunday afternoon. The kids love the train. Special events occur regularly.
Great place to spend an leisurely afternoon or morning. Very fun farmers' market. I would definitely return!!!
I live only blocks from here. On Saturday you can shop the farmer's market, with wonderful smells of coffee, flowers, bread, and different foods cooking as you walk through. It's also pet friendly. There are small shops you can walk through, with a Western theme. The park has a Old Western Steam Train that all the children absolutely love. It's great for picnics and birthday parties, also there is a wonderful restaurant that serves great comfort food in a museum like dinning room. If you like the feeling of going back in time, this is the place.Christmas in the park isn't one to miss..it gives you that warm cozy and fuzzy feeling, which brings you closer as a family...Great Experience.
Great place to take the family on the weekend. Food, crafts, train and blacksmith shop. The train and smithy operate on weekends and holidays. Steampunk are sometimes around.
Historical theme park, with 1907 steam locomotive running the first and third weekends of the month. It also runs on special events, which include the Mountain Man weekend, Wild West re-enactors, etc. There is also a weekly Saturday farmers market and craft fair. The train barn also includes an 1894 Los Angeles trolley and San Francisco cable car. Also in the park are restored historical buildings, the Poway Historical Society museum, and the Hamburger Factory restaurant.
I liked the charm and the History of the park and also the train that takes you around the park. It's also a great place for picnics and birthday parties.
This is truly a family place. You have the farmer's market on Saturday, and the craft fairs, plus Hamburger Mary and the train and old buildings. What more could you want
We stayed one night in Poway since we couldn't get into our San Diego condo until the following night. Had a great meal at the local burger joint, walked around a quaint little park, met a man who had a high-powered telescope set up. He was letting the public use it to look at Saturn - a very cool experience. The next morning there was a great farmers market set up in the park. We met some very friendly people, ate some wonderful food, then headed on to our destination.
Hidden deep in the southern part of Poway is a wonderful oasis of nature. Old Poway Park not only has a natural wooded beauty, but it also is a great venue for a special occasion. Many of the buildings can be rented out by the hour for your celebrations. We rented the Templars' Hall for a 50 person gathering and were very pleased with the room. There is plenty of outlets for any electronics you need to power. Our rental included round tables, long tables, and chairs. You do your own set up and clean up, but the park rangers are very helpful and accommodating. As Poway residents the cost is quite inexpensive. We were very happy with our choice.
Depending on when you want to visit, Old Poway Park can be a serene, comfortable place to picnic, bar-b-que, let the kids run around on the grass and climb trees, buy unique items at the regularly-scheduled craft fairs, or enjoy a variety of music presentations at the huge gazebo. Weekends there are rides on the train. The museum is also available at that time. Within the park you can also enjoy down-home food at the Hamburger Factory. There is also the Saturday morning farmer's market next to the park. The relatively small park offers so much you just have to see it to believe it. Great family outing, no matter what the day.
We live in Poway. Poway residents and visitors are very lucky to have such an attractive and historical park, restaurants and shops in an old fashioned setting. Poway is a very family-friendly town which makes the Old Poway Park an excellent place to attend holiday events all year long. The park has beautiful old oaks which shade the large picnic area where a creek meanders through it. The old railroad which circles the park provides fun rides on the weekends on a collection authentic old trains. The Hamburger Factory is a great and delicious way to have breakfast, lunch and dinner. The large Saturday farmers market is held on Midland Road where shoppers can also wander through the quaint shops and restraunts along the street as well as all the above attractions!..
