It was definitely a great venue for Knotfest! Plenty of room and stages for all the bands and maggots lol. Only problem I had was trying to leave Saturday night, with VIP parking, we had to wait almost 3 hours to get out of the parking lot. Other than that I loved the venue and we will return!
Went to Knotfest on Saturday. Got there around 12:30. If you take Devore Rd off of the 215 you might get stuck waiting for a train. I did. They are building an overpass, but it's not done yet. Anyways, not too bad getting to park. Parked in the general admission, which is free. It is a little bit further to walk though. They have $20 vip parking which is maybe halfway closer to the San Manuel entrance. They have a line of port o'potties in general admission lot. It's a dirt and a bit rocky walk and walkway up hill. Then they had lines dividing the men to one side and women to the other will a table in the middle with a list of items allowed and not allowed. They had several of these lines. Once you get to the end a lady, if you are female or a male if you are male, will pat you down and check what you are bringing in. You are allowed to bring in 2 unopened bottles of water. They will remove the caps after the search. You are allowed to bring in a 1 gallon size ziploc bag of food/snacks. I brought in stuff that I packaged at home inside along with packages that weren't opened yet. All was good. I had a little backpack with sunscreen, tissues, contact lens case and eyeglasses, sunglass case, a little first aid kit, (had bandaids, gauze, first aid ointment ) and my camera and phone. I carried a sweatshirt with me. You are not allowed to exit and go back in. No lighters are allowed, only matches and if you smoke only sealed packs of smokes. They have atm machines in case you need cash. I would bring cash just in case. Don't know how much the fee to use the machines is. Not all vendors take a card either. The prices for food weren't as expensive as I was expecting. They have a large soda in a collector cup for $8, free refills. Small bottle of Dasani water $4.50. I don't drink, but I saw some of the prices. $15 for large premium beer, $11 for large, $4 or $4.50 for small. They have cheeseburgers $7.50, hot dogs $5, pretzels $4.75 and nachos $5.50, well chips with cheese sauce, don't think there were any jalapenos. They have vegetarian options, not vegan though. A portobella veggie burger $9, has sliced cheese on it. They did have a little snack pack of hummus with pretzels. Cotton candy $4. There were other food vendors set up around the place. I don't know if they are always there or not. They had a potato swirl place, long line, and then a 15 minute wait in another line to get it. A chinese food vendor. Vegetable chow mein plate $6, vegetarian plate $10. Port o'potties all on lawn. Don't know how well they were kept up. I used the fixed facilities by the concessions stands. Never had to wait in a line. As the day got later it looked like some toilets were getting clogged, but they were kept up with paper products etc. Stayed until almost the very end. Left a couple songs before they were done. There was already a little bit of a line to head towards the 215 down Glen Helen parkway. We went the other way, which puts you out to get on the 15 and got on 215 that way. painless. All in all, had a good day! It did get really cold at night, so don't forget to bring a sweatshirt.
Saw Blake Shelton at San Manuel. The concert was great but the parking situation was horrible. We paid for VIP parking. It may have been better to walk from the regular parking but don't know as this was my first visit to this venue. No cars moved for 1 1/2 to 2 hours. I highly doubt I would return to this venue. Give me Hollywood Bowl and their shuttle service.
We have attended many concerts at San Manuel and they have been outstanding. Last night we saw Blake Shelton who certainly deserves the Entertainer of the Year Award he received. It was awesome. We were in VIP Parking however it would not have mattered. When we left we were in our car in the parking lot not moving one inch for over an hour and a half after the concert. There was no explanation from anyone and still isn't. People were climbing on top of cars to see if there was any movement any where to no avail. It was extremely frustrating and chaotic. It is such a shame as the concert was so wonderful but the glow was gone after we fought to get out of the parking lot.... Don't know if we will ever be back
If you like outdoor concerts you will love this place. It's about an hour outside of Los Angeles in the beautiful San Bernardino mountains. Went to a graduation but I can tell it would be great for a concert. Behind the seats there's a nice big hill where you can spread out a blanket and have a really good time. No bad seats. It was not too hot for June when I was there but if you expect a hot day prepare for it ahead of time. Lots of parking. Expect to do a lot of walking. But it's so enjoyable to sit outdoors and be entertained by the performance and nature!
This amphitheater is really a great place to see a concert. Good sound throughout. Not a bad seat for a large place.
Make sure you have a ride! Went and saw Rascal Flats and Sheryl Crow. Good show, ok venue. But getting a cab after is a joke. You have to foot it to parking lot #2 which is down the road (yes the road all the way where you come in) down a dark path with no lights and then wait with 30 other people and no cabs. Good 1/4 mile if not 1/2 mile walk and not for the faint hearted when you go down the dark trail to nowhere. No wonder so many people drive outta here drunk, because after you have to hoof it to a cab and then wait your completely sober.
Being the largest amphitheater, I am totally understanding of what it must take to accommodate 60,000 people. With that said, due to the fact their organization, customer service, and signage are non existent, it makes waiting in the lines at the of a show at the Hollywood Bowl or the Greek totally worth it. As a PR specialist and Events Manager, the staff and management need some seriously well-guided instruction on how to manage their facility.
Nice amphitheater way out in no where but everyone was very nice. Very good sound and venue was nice. Was up a large hill so be prepared for a hike. Other then that it was very nice.
Went to a big music festival. About 30,000 people here give or take. The venue can comfortably hold everyone. Security was a breeze so disregard the people trash talking the security and staff. They are probably intoxicated and being rude. Only issue was how dusty it gets but it was my fault for not bringing a bandanna. I know better as someone who attends many festivals. Would definitely come back.
I enjoy this place very much. It has a poor public parking area though, and VIP is not that much better. You also have to watch you lawn chairs when you get lawn tickets. Some lawn chairs were allowed while other were not of similar shape & SIZE.
This is a great venue to go to if you get the chance. The sound is amazing there. When your in the pit you not stuck in the hot sun it is shaded.
I'll start off saying that the sound at the main stage is pretty good. The event we attended also had a smaller second stage and the sound there was utterly horrible due to them forcing the bands to play directly into the wind. Now onto other issues.Communication: Everywhere online had posted before the show that the gates opened at 1:00 and the show started at 2:05. Well we waited in line in the hot sun until 1:00, they let about a dozen people in, and then force everyone back because now they decided to not open the gates until 2:00! Someone near us even passed out from the heat at this point, and they still made us wait. There was barely anytime to get inside before the music started. They also do a poor job of telling you what you need to get. We were in the pit and assumed our pit tickets were all we needed to get down there. However, when we start heading down, we are told that we need wristbands. After asking three(!) different employees where to get wristbands, we were finally able to get to the concert.Prices: I've never seen a more overpriced venue than this. $4.50 for bottled water? $6.00 for crappy nachos? $12 for a beer?! Give me a break!Parking: Literally the worst parking situation I've ever seen. All the employees simply stood around while normal concert-goers took matters into their own hands and started directing traffic. You know there's a problem when people who paid to use your location have to provide basic services for themselves. It took us over 2 hours to get out of the parking lot.Basically, the actual musical sound here is okay, but the venue is awful. If you can avoid going here, do it.
We went to the Art Laboe oldie and new school concert. It was awesome. There is lots of parking and lots of seats. The staff is super helpful and they kept everything under control. Definitely will add this place for concerts. I did not realize its been there for 13 years.
No communications: There is no website to determine what you can and can't bring into the facility, what time the place opens, where to park etc. The people answering question for the site need to have scripted responses, because each time we called we got different responses. Your best bet is to contact someone you know that has been here and ask them. Parking: Dirt lot. If you dress nice for the concert, plan on getting dirty on the walk in to the stadium.General admission tickets: This venue holds about 65K and about 40K tickets are general admission lawn seats. We knew going in that our general admission seats were going to be on a grass hill. What we didn't know is that the stage is so far away, you can't recognize who's on stage. We sat through the first act and thought we were listing to prerecord filler music. The sound might be OK close to the stage for those few that are seat holders, but for the GA folks the speakers are so far away that the sound is terrible. The same goes for the mega screens mounted next to the stage, or should I say micro screens. Since you can't distinguish who's on stage, you should be able to at least see who's on the screen. They need to take a note from the promoters at StageCoach and Cochella and mount large mega screens and speakers out in the crowd so that everyone can see and her whats going on.Restrooms: I can't complain to much about the restrooms other then to say bring a roll of TP if you plan on tailgating in the parking lot. There were many outhouses in the parking area but all were out of toilet paper.
