We enjoyed walking around the grounds to see what they are working on. There are plenty of benches, so we bring our lunch along, too.
Free with ample parking. You can escape the frantic East Bay here. Wonderful "kitchen garden" often satisfies my needs, but there are also extensive grounds to explore. NEVER CROWDED.
Get off the beaten path and enjoy this relaxing garden- which was free last time I was there. It is the "lab" for UC students.
It's a little out of the way, but a nice outing if you like gardens. Nothing really fancy, but extensive grounds with some water features.
I used to go to Blake Gardens quite a bit when my kids were young. It's a lovely place to explore with varied garden spaces, some more curated than others. The grounds are stunning. I still make it there each season just to check out what's growing. It is a hidden jewel (only open during the week.)
Shhh... don't tell anyone. I love to walk around here, and see what is blooming. Truly beautiful to me. I wish they could restore the house, but it's too expensive. Still it's fun to imagine what it must have been like. I very impressed with landscape artists.
Blake Garden may be in Kensington, but the entire East Bay may claim it, if they knew it was there. Hidden away, stewarded by UC Berkeley, this site is serene and historic, filled with flowering plants, a stand of redwoods, trails that weave among local green travertine rock outcrops, along with the palatial estate house and reflecting pool. So many moods here! Enjoy!
A beautiful, locals only, hidden gem of a garden with views of the bay. Tall redwoods, Koi ponds, reflecting pools, statues, flowers and unique plants everywhere. An amazing place to commune with nature, meditate, or just lounge and read a book. Quiet and serene, I am so glad my local friends turned me on to this place! And it's free!
