The bridge is often less crowded than the others. This is the most southern of the bay crossings. You can get a good view of the bay area.

I used to cross the Dumbarton Bridge every week on my way to work. Now that I'm retired I don't miss it. I certainly prefer the San Mateo bridge even though I live between the two bridges. The San Mateo bridge is right on the water level. It's kind of exciting at least when you first cross it. When you cross the Dumbarton Bridge you're across it before you even know you did it.

Live just beside this bridge. It has great view of the bay. You need to pay toll when you travel west bound.

If you ask me I gave this a 5 rating because of the fact that the bridge is not as long as san mateo! If you have a fear of being on bridges this is the best route to go because the bridge is short and you get to where you need to be! The only complain which is inevitable is the fact that when it hits traffic it takes forever!

Nothing special here to see or do. It crosses the lower bay so there is little to see, other than water and a train trestle. No place to pull over and look. Does have a bike path and offers the best way from the east bay to Palo Alto.

Dumbarton Bridge is the southern most bridge across San Francisco Bay. It extends from the East Bay (Fremont/Newark area) to the Peninsula (East Palo Alto/Menlo Park) area. The toll is paid going east to west; there is no toll going west to east. It is busy during commute hours. In the morning the most traffic is from east to west as people commute to their jobs in Santa Clara Valley (aka Silicon Valley) or at Stanford University area. In the evening it is the reverse of that.The bridge area is also a popular fishing area. There are various views of the bridge from regional parks in the area.If one wants to get an interesting picture of the bridge, a short hike in Coyote Hills Regional Park will bring you to a nice view of the Dumbarton Bridge.
