Moderately difficult to average trail type. Diverse enough to be interesting for more than one visit. Beware: Some dog walkers allow their dogs to run unleashed.
This is just a small trail but it's super pretty and fun, it's a local grove trail right in the middle of Carlsbad. Parking is easy and it's free, fun for the family but not really stroller friendly.
This is a nice little trail system and makes you feel like you're out of the city it's not really a challenging trail but then again you're not climbing Mount Everest it is really enjoyable to go there for a nice little stroll didn't some picnic benches in the Rotary Park to send me like that all around a nice place
Hosp Grove was a nice little place to take my dog. It was short (1.5 mi trail) but fairly peaceful when the trail got away from the busy roads.Positives:-Well maintained trails-Clearly marked trails-Dog friendly-Shady-Playground for kidsNegatives:-Right next to busy roads (trail literally walks along it part of the way)-People don't seem to clean up after their dogs even though there are doggie bag areas-Very short, little diversity in the trailsOverall this is a nice area to go to for a short, relaxing walk. For anyone seeking a challenging or very scenic trail, this probably isn't the park for you. However, well suited for dog walking with a nice play area for children. Will definitely be going back with my dog!
Not large, but great for a quick outing with dogs or kids. very easy trails to navigate. Nice little suburban park
Its nice to have some trails right in Carlsbad. The dog loves them as do my wife and I. Yes its close to the road and mall but for a change of pace for dog walks its a great place
I took my granddaughter here for an hour or so just to let her run around, enjoy the children's playground area and to get some exercise. She had a great time exploring the various areas, we did the natural seesaw (a large branch in the vee of an existing tree), walked around, gathered some branches and played in the sand area. She found some interesting rocks and other natural items and just generally had a good time. It's one of Carlsbad's many great parks and rec areas. It's right off Jefferson, just south of the 78 and the parking is close and convenient.
Carlsbad has a extensive trail system within it's boundaries. None too difficult, so not for the 'climbers', but very enjoyable. They range from flat to hilly. Most are wide enough for several people to walk abreast. When i've encountered people with dogs, they have always been on leashes, I really appreciate dog owners for that courtesy. The Hosp Grove trail area is quite hilly and starts out from Hi-Noon Rotary Park where you can drop your vehicle, or enjoy a snack at the tables provided. The trails meander around the Buena Vista Lagoon and also down by the Mall. Great for an hour's workout
Hosp Grove trails take you away from the city and into nature. Lots of beautiful old eucalyptus trees. As of April, there are some foxtails, so you may need to keep dogs on a tight leash.
Kind of a hidden place with neat trails. The nastutiums bloom for about a month and cover one of the hillsides. Really a sight to see.
This is a nice walk in the park with some steep challenges along the way. Always kept clean and ready for the adventurous walk and climb. The West section has a slide and area for children to play in the large sand box etc. About 3-4 miles of nice trails. The East side is for good walks and all covered by heavy wooded areas. Great for a an hour of excercise.
I almost hate to expound on this place. It is so sparsely visited that I feel most times that I have it to myself. Each week day, I take my 3 dogs for a hike here. I know there are other places to go, but this truly feels like you are not in a town...like it is a national park. Eucalyptus trees for as far as you can see and several trails to choose from. Lots of friendly dogs get their exercise here. Always carry a leash, but dogs do go off leash. Kind of a little secret, so I hope I am not ruining it! Go to the side of the trails that you enter off of Jefferson and you will have a different experience than the one off of Monroe...more of a trail than and open space.
Not very challenging hike but if you want some exercise and live in Carlsbad/Oceanside area it's not hard to reach. Better than a walk in the neighborhood. Lots of tall trees. Personally I'd take a walk by the Ocean rather than hike at Hosp.
A grove of gum trees with nice trails. There's a children's playground, a view of the lagoon and a mall nearby. Restaurants also nearby. Suggest soup plantation across the street.
