Located on the lower level of the casino. It's small has interesting displays and tidbits of history.
Check this place out first before taking the Casino tour, then afterwards return to the museum to get a fresh perspective of the Island history.
Catalina is a nice place to visit, however.......there isn't much here..plan on taking a walk and having a meal, then the trip back. Fun little shops, but something is lacking here.
We couldn't wait to check out the museum to learn more about the island and it's history. Sure on previous tours they alluded to the Wrigley family's influence and the various other Hollywood tales but I couldn't believe how small it was. No wonder they encourage you to get a coupon for buy one, get one - it's not worth paying full ticket price but is worth checking out.
Was well presented and looking forward to the new 'Museum'... Enjoyed the displays and history shown of Avalon...
nicely laid out and informative about the island with the main focus on visitors to the island. They are building a new museum and it will be much larger, giving them much more needed space for display.
The museum is quite small, with mostly pictures of famous celebrities who have visited the Island, and bio on the Wrigley family. That's about it.
Currently housed in Casino, there is much history to the Island. Hopefully when the new museum is open, a more history can be displayed and shared.
Good history of island from time of Native Americans to Hollywood actors' haven to resort. Missing was information on current islanders.
Currently in the historic Casino building - but will soon be moving into its new multi purpose building over in town. Full of island history you won't find anywhere else.
This should be on every visitor's list. The museum is a very professional museum full of local history, from the original Native American inhabitants to the hollywood stars who frequented the island during Hollywood's golden era. Many interesting anecdotes, photos, etc. This is a small museum easily visited in about 1 hour.
Limited artifacts, history displays interesting but mostly about Hollywood stars. Hope when new museum area opens, will have more about the townspeople.
I was disappointed that the museum is almost entirely about the celebrities that have visited the island. Very little history or memorabilia anymore (the switchboard, the history of island ownership and development, etc). Come on, an entire panel about George Hamilton fishing one day off of the island?
This is a fun little museum, very reasonably priced, and worth seeing for the history of the island and stories about the celebrities who visited there. Lots of old photos.
Iconic site. Took history tour which was nice, but wanted to have interior tour which was not available at this time.
