Liked the outdoorsy feel of Northstar village, lots of shopping and nature trails to enjoy. Take the opportunity to visit the Ritz Carlton and enjoy the Manzanita restaurant.

Great mountain! Lots of runs weren't open when we were there but it didn't stop us from enjoying. Compact which we really liked! You didn't have to traverse all over the place. Fast lifts. Good food options. Very friendly staff on mountain.

I have skied all over northern Utah, Colorado, Montana, Washington state & Tahoe. In my opinion, there is not a more scenic ski area than Tahoe. Northstar is absolutely stunning. I stayed at the Ritz which in itself makes the whole resort better. Regarding the ski area, I am an intermediate skier. While this year has been a big bummer on Western snow, the day before I arrived, the resort got about a foot of snow. I did not get out until the afternoon. The blacks & any blues with pitch were moguled up. At least the moguls were soft. The blacks here are "easy" blacks. The resort even grooms some of them each night. If you want a challenging run choose "Burnout"or "Sierra Grande" when they have not been groomed. Both of those blacks are off the Backside Express lift. For fun groomers, go to "Loggers Loop" or "The Straits" off of Vista Express lift. Get out there. Pray for more snow.

The snow condition is not that great this year so we were a bit disappointed with the skiing. Having said that, we had a great time with families and friends here at Northstar. The resort was well designed that have ample of activities for families. I love the daily champagne toast at 2:00pm up at the top of the the Rendez-vous lift. I just sat there sipped my bubbly and enjoyed a magnificent view of the lake. I don't want to leave! My kids love the s'mores stations on a Saturday afternoon where they went hunting for different s'mores stations. The resort is not overly crowded when we went and the staff and operators are so conscientious and service oriented, we felt very at ease (we have younger kids).

I have been skiing for decades and this is one of my favorite spots in California. You can tell the staff love their job and have been trained in customer service. The slopes offer something for all skill levels including a run obstacles for the more advanced skier. The food was great at the lodges and restaurants. Plenty of outdoor seating near fire pits. Village offers a few boutique shops. There is a bungie ride for the kids. Free carts for carrying your kids and gear.

The long groomed runs at Northstar Ski Resort are the best in North Lake Tahoe. The views of Lake Tahoe are not the best but you came for skiing, right? We actually stayed on North Lake Tahoe, in Kings Beach, about 15 minutes south.

This is a great mountain for the majority of skiers. Good long groomers for beg, intermediate and advanced. Off trail skiing in trees is great when there is snow. If you're looking to jump off cornices, want tight canyons, keep in with the cool crowd then you might want to look elsewhere. This has a laid back vibe and has good family atmosphere.We've been coming here for years, upgraded village is a nice addition. We have season passes as well.

We didn't stay at Northstar, but did a day trip to the resort. It's a good place to visit even if you're not into any snow sports - which is really what it's famous for in the winter. The Village at Northstar has a lot to offer in shopping and dining options. The complementary gondola ride up to the Ritz Carlton was also great.

Love this ski resort! Besides the excellent skiing opportunities, which of course are the backbone of the resort area. The town that is incorporated into the area is interesting and fun to walk around in. The restaurants are very good, ate at Perla last time we were here which was very good. The shops are pricey, but good quality clothing, etc. Everyone is friendly and personable, staff and visitors. The lodging options are timeshares and condo owners. The Welk Resorts has been building some beautiful lodging in the village, with fireplaces on each balcony! The ski school is very busy and after watching the little ones learning to ski, observed the instructors were very patient with them. We were able to take the free gondola ride up to the Ritz-Carlton Hotel, where we had lunch. Also able to take a "ranger" ride (like a snowmobile) from the hotel to the bottom of the mountain and ski school and ride back up again. About a 20 - 25 minute ride from North Lake Tahoe in clear weather conditions. Even if you aren't skiing, you will find something to do! Have fun!

I love this place not only for skiing (which is great!), but for having a top-notch hangout places all around slopes: you have places to stop for a Irish Coffee at the summit bar, have lunch at Ritz Carton or go for a very decent hamburger at the base of the mountain, or relax and sip your Bloody Mary by the skating rink and listen to live music all day long if you are too lazy to put on ski boots that day... What's not to love?GREAT school for kids, plenty of parking and regular shuttle service, lot's of friendly smiles from staff all around the Village - and enough snow making cannons to overcome the dry spell.it's not cheap, but good things never are..

We (mistakenly!) planned our annual ski trip for the Squaw Valley area this year. The lack of snow was a bit shocking. After a very disappointing day at Alpine Meadows, we headed to Northstar and ended up having a wonderful day. Because of their snow-making capabilities, it's definitely the place to go if it's a low-snow year. We had a great time on lots of blue runs. I guess it really makes a difference when they're the ski area that will spend the money on making snow and some good grooming!!

Even though it hasn't snowed in forever, Northstar has the best snow making capability in Tahoe. Man made snow isn't the best, but we were able to ski a wide variety of slopes.The staff, from instructors, to lift operators, to bus boys, are friendly and helpful.

I had a great time skiing at the resort. there are a ton of trails to ski. The only bad thing on my trip was that this year, they had not had a lot of snow, so most of the snow was man made. Therefore it was a bit icy in spots and some bare spots as well. The blue runs were in good shape, the diamonds were the issue. I loved the length of the runs as many were quite long. The ski lifts you moved and spent very little time on the lifts or in line. Following the map and finding the trails was a little tricky. I usually am good with maps, but for some reason it was a bit difficult here.Lift tickets are a bit expensiveThe staff was very, very polite no matter where we ran into them (lifts, restaurant, rental shop, ticket window) so great job there.The village looked nice, but not a lot going on or businesses opened on the Friday we were there.The rental equipment was good quality and I had no issues with my skis

When I visited on 1/31-2/1 there were tons of activities in the village! Lots of great shops and restaurants and a wonderful ice skating rink in the center of it all. I loved the live music each afternoon!

We've had our girls in the Northstar ski team for 3 years now and love it. They have a range of team options from a Sunday only non-competitive "pioneer" program to all the race teams typical at resorts. My wife and I enjoy skiing with our girls on Saturdays and then skiing (and getting coffee/lunch/etc.) ourselves on Sundays. Girls love the "team" and coaches.
