This was the afternoon part of our "occupying ourselves on a Thursday in the San Jose/Milpitas area" adventure. You can get a cold sandwich there if you need to, but we ate at Vivi's first. They have a very nice selection of wines, of which we enjoyed most that we tried. We liked it enough to be disappointed that they don't ship wine to Ohio, and to buy 3 bottles for our daughter and son-in-law who are local. When we drove up, there were 4 or 5 mule deer prancing around the grounds. After the tasting we walked around the grounds, which have some pretty mountain views, and considered a brief hike on the trails they have. Time constraints and a mountain lion advisory made us decide to do the hike on our next visit.

We found Picchetti from a Trip Advisor review and were glad we did. Tasting room in an old winery building is staffed by very friendly people. Beautiful area and winery grounds. The wines were excellent. Small fee for tasting is refunded on a wine purchase. Bought a bottle and had it with dinner that night at a restaurant. Excellent with Italian!

Less than a mile from the Montebello Rd turnoff in the Stevens Creek Dam area is the old Picchetti Winery. Of course you can wine taste but you can also bring a picnic, go for a hike, listen to music or just relax and read a book. The place was absolutely full of cars in the parking lot yet you never felt like it was congested or over crowded. The Picchetti family has a long history in the area and while they don't run the winery anymore, their legacy lives on.

This small winery is just on the outside of Cupertino starting the rise of the Santa Cruz Mountains. It is a short drive and easy to get to. Parking can be difficult but if your game you could hike or bike in (not for me!). The tasting room is large but fills up quickly. Price is very reasonable ($10 for 5 pours). We were a group of 3 tasters and 1 DD and the staff that served us was very knowledgeable about the ones. The selection we made (whites) did not include the Rose Brut which was what I wanted to taste most. Upon mentioning this it was immediately offered, it was delicious! We enjoyed the Angelica and the white port immensely. The outside grounds are lovely. The have picnic tables and paths to hiking trails. There were some families using the grounds but there was no disturbance from having kids around. After tasting and finding a favorite wine it would be an excellent idea to purchase a bottle to enjoy outside on premises.

One of the oldest wineries in the area. They offer some wines from one grape growed on site. These wines vary from year to year. Small production quantities drives cost up but we bought some anyway. They don't use labels, rather silk screen process puts gold ink on the bottle, also a unique feature. Peacocks run wild on the property. Rural feel but good wine.

Due to the drought,in Lake Tahoe we took a day to visit other sites including this one! It was fun! We were the only ones in the wine tasting room, so had a nice conversation with the employee. He had worked at the winery in Cupertino before coming to the tasting room in Tahoe, so was knowledgeable about the products & production process. The wine tasting is $10.00 & if you buy a bottle, the $10.00 goes toward your purchase! I enjoyed the Tahoe Red, so bought a bottle & brought it home. I would have liked to sign up for their wine club, but they were unable to ship to Wisconsin due to the fees it would cost them...

Great place for a picnic! Family winery with good wines and one exceptional Cab. The grounds are really cool, an old farmstead with barns, picnic tables, chickens, and peacocks, this is a winery you can bring the kids to. There are hiking trails and a county park there as well.

Picchetti Winery is one of the oldest wineries in California. The tasting room was built in 1896 and is set amongst the forests, hiking trails, and picnic tables in the Picchetti Open Space preserve. A great place for a friendly, relaxing wine tasting without any pretentiousness. They have a wide range of wines, so you're sure to find something you love.

Excellent wines, I heartily recommend the Port, the Mission Angelica, and Leslie's Estate Cabernet. If you join the wine club, you get two bottles every quarter, and a special gift too (past gifts have been Riedel glasses, wine openers, champagne crackers, travel pouches, etc.) Plus, you can pick up your wines and do tastings in either their Cupertino tasting room or their Lake Tahoe tasting room. Also, during the summer, they have food trucks to accompany the tastings, and picnic grounds for you to eat and drink with your family. It is the best of the family friendly wineries that I have joined.

A very nice spot just 10 minutes out of Cupertino with generous tastings, good wine, good hikes, and nice picnicking.

A wonderful and unexpected find! Nice wines, served by lovely staff in a friendly and informal setting. Must mention the amazing Angelica white Port!

The wines are usually wonderful and Sunday of Labor Day weekend was no exception. As members of the Wine Club, we (my wife and I) go every month or two. This visit we took my sister and brother-in-law, who had flown in from New York. The four of us enjoyed a delicious bottle of White Pavonne at a picnic table, listened to rock music, picked up our latest club wines, and tasted several reds. I particularly enjoyed the Zinfandel and the Pinot Noir. My brother-in-law liked the Malbec and the Merlot. (I had to limit my intake as I was the driver.) The out-of-towners were particularly impressed by the beauty of the surrounding hills. All in all, a most enjoyable afternoon on a beautiful warm summer day.

We were actually members for a few years. Loved their Proseco wine.Even had a bachelorette picnid there for one of my friends. They have peacocks roaming around. Very close to the Silicon Valley buzz but at the same time far away. Can go for a short hike around as well. Very good for showing to out of town visitors.

We arrived and were greeted by a peacock strutting around with his colorful feathers spread wide. The setting is an historical ranch (winery established in1896). The grounds are beautiful with much greenery, hiking trails, picnic tables, etc.The rustic tasting room was formerly a Victorian barn (appropriately modernized) and fit the setting well. A variety of wines representing many regions were offered. Most were aged in oak barrels which added a lovely round earthy taste, esp. to the buttery chardonnay. Super Tuscan was our favorite red and I especially enjoyed the dessert wine Angelica. $5.00 is the cost of a flight of wine and is deducted from final price if wines are purchased. The host was friendly and knowledgeable. We took time to explore this lovely setting, taste it's delicious wines, purchased our 3 faves and left feeling we had discovered a real hidden gem.

Casual with picnic tables and rustic tasting room. Peacocks stroll grounds. Hiking trails start at winery.
