I like that parking is close to the venue and the hotel is across the street. I like the place very classy and I enjoy the fact they keep the place clean and the staff are amazing
Stayed here just one night as part of a tour. The room was very comfortable with a real quality feel. Would definitely stay here again.
This is a review of Saroyan Theatre, which is a part of the Convention Center. I watched a few performances of a production presented by the Fresno Grand Opera. The theater has a very big and wide auditorium that funnels to the stage, so the effect, if you’re sitting a good ways back, is like watching the play through the wrong end of a set of binoculars. It's not so bad when you're sitting up close, though. The seating is one continuous row across the entire auditorium, no center aisles. There aren't very many bathrooms, and they're all on one side in the back of the theater. Lines are long, and if you're on the opposite side of the theater from the bathrooms, it's difficult to get to them.It does seem a nice, modern place and it looks really nice on the inside, but just logistically not one of the better theaters I've visited.
My wife and I drove 200 miles to Fresno to see the Il Volo concert at the Saroyan Theatre on 8/30. The venue was clean, with every seat a good vantage point for the performance. Food and liquor booths are strategically located on the main floor. Restrooms were clean, well stocked and easy to access on all levels. The ushers and attendants were all very pleasant and professional. The acoustics were very good to my amateur ear and the doors opened promptly at 6:30 PM for a 7:30 PM performance. The seats were comfortable however the a/c was on at the lowest possible setting during my 3.5 hour stay at the venue...ugh! I cannot comment on parking as I stayed across the street at the Radisson. Enjoyable but....I'm glad I stayed at the Radisson across the street, as driving through the neighborhood shall we say it was "dicey"....really "dicey".
Fresno grew North. Not as many events are held here as there used to be. However, it's pretty easy access from the freeway. I still attend events here, averaging out to about 5-6 times per year.
The place was horribly dirty. The staff rather clueless with NO customer service abiltity. Other than all the gaming inside, there are also a variety of activities outside. Nothing at all for children 4 and under.
I do not like the area. The venue is under utilized... it is operated by Fresno County and they do a pretty poor job of marketing the place. It is not as well maintained as a private industry venue would be. Parking is adequate BUT it is in a bad part of town. I will not take family there after dark. When we go to the theater venue we go in the afternoon and clear-out before dark. When attending a function with other men I do not feel at all vulnerable... When it is a family event I take them to the Save Mart Center.SAVE MART CENTER on the other end of town is a much better venue. It is always well maintained, there is much more security and "home-less" people cannot congregate. If the the convention center complex was turned over to a private industry entity it would be much improved. We would attend more theater presentations and opera if the facility was in a better area.John .
Really! The best Places to meet people is @ FC&EC.
The place is the only game in town. Box office staff are awful.
