2 day guided fly fishing trip from The Fly Shop in Redding. Given the drought conditions, the fishing was excellent. Guides are very knowledgeable and put us on fish all day. great fun!

You can take photo's, fish, raft, dine in a boat and float, and explore the many things the area has to offer..Like the River Trail, The Bridge, Turtle Bay Exploration Park, Caldwell Park, just to name whats available in Redding right on or around the river..And there are more attractions..

I am from Reno and anything over 65 degrees is considered summer-ish. Redding doesnt have much to do when it isnt "summer time". I think the city as a whole doesnt consider it summer until July.I will say though that due to the lack of other activities this is a great little journey to take. The Sacramento River still looks great despite a state-wide drought. The river boasts TONS of trails and nature viewing. My son and I walked 5 miles up and down the river and saw tons of great people and viewed lots of nature. We did not walk every trail that we could have. This is a place to go and just soak in a great walk/jog/run/bike ride. You will enjoy quite a few places to be able to walk down and skip rocks or have a picnic.Go and enjoy for as long or as little as you like!

Nice clean flowing water, much different from the river when it flows through Sacramento where it smells and is brown.

I enjoyed seeing the section of the Sacramento River which is in Redding. The Sacramento River is 447 miles. In the Sacramento River area of Redding, I enjoyed hiking on some trails, walking across Sundial Bridge, seeing some ducks and other wildlife. The other section of Sacramento River where we spend a lot of time is in Sacramento, the capitol city of California. In that area, we have enjoyed exploring the Sacramento River by renting boats. We have had picnics. There are delightful areas to visit there such as Old Town Sacramento. For the Redding section, we also visited Turtle Bay Exploration Park.

We enjoyed the wildlife...mama swan with her five babies and River otters playing. The River where we were was so peaceful.

It's beautiful along the river. Very hot in the afternoon and the water is really cold, so plan accordingly.

Quiet, peaceful and relaxing! Great river to drift down, by raft, kayak, drift boat, etc. Wonder large trout to catch for dinner or catch and release. World renowned trophy fishing!

The Sac River Trails are awesome. The mostly paved trails wind along or near the Sacramento River, but ALL of Redding has been overrun with homeless & criminal transients. Fed & catered to by a large number of vocal do-gooder organizations, they run amok day & night. Take care as you would in a large dangerous city as law enforcement has not grown to keep up with the increased demands. Leave valuables @ home, lock everything in your trunk, and watch your kids. Solo women should take extra care and perhaps avoid the remote trails. Sad but true. No longer a pleasant place to visit or live.

If it wasn't for the river Redding would be just another place to stop along I-5. During the summer even the locals utilize the numerous spots along the river to cool off and enjoy a picnic. Wouldn't recommend swimming though, that sucker is COLD.

The Sacramento River is the heart of Redding. It flows through the middle of the city and provides recreation all year round. Great boating, fishing and scenic views.

You will definitely enjoy a trip around the Sacramento River. There are too many attractions: Shasta dam is an amazing construction; Sundial Bridge at Turtle Bay is one of the cutest and most beautiful bridges you have ever seen; a boat cruise is a wonderful sightseeing option; a snowshoe tours at Lassen National Park nearby will add more fun for sure, …

Great guided fishing with The Fly Shop. We do this 2x's a year and have a great time each and every time.

Best river park I have visited. Especially for a small town. Walking, running, biking, picnicing or merely watching the river, it has it all. With a CA license, fishing too! Great kid's playground areas. Plenty of parking, but no RV parking.

Great place to go for a walk, fishing, or play at various parks along the river's edge. We enjoy visiting Anderson River Park.
