We were here 7 years ago when they were still working on the landscaping, so we wanted to see how everything turned out. Beautifully! The long walk under the vine-covered arbor gets you in the wining mood before you even enter the HUGE wooden front door. The tasting room is beautifully appointed and impressive. Unlike most places, they also sell a variety of cheese, crackers, salames and chocolate, so you can buy some wine and spend time out on the large covered terrace enjoying the view of the miles of rolling hills and vineyards. The gentlemen at the tasting bar was very informative and managed to serve and talk with all the guests with equal focus. The $10 tasting price was reasonable for the amount of whites and reds on the tasting flight menu. The only shock was the price of the wine. The flight bottles were in the $40-$50 range. This is about twice what it was 7 years ago!
This place was beautiful. The staff was friendly and the wine was great. We did the tasting and it gave a good variety of what they offered. The young lady providing the tasting was very knowledgable. The road coming in was aligned with grapes. I recommend going late summer to see the grapes still on the vine, almost ready for picking. The atmosphere was so calming. LOVED IT!
Terra Blanca is a beautiful winery on the beautiful Red Mountain close to Benton City, WA. The start of your experience is the breathtaking views as you drive up to the parking area. Once parked you stroll along a beautiful walking path leading up to very impressive tall, wide entry doors into the tasting room. Once inside you receive a friendly greeting and a taste of some really magnificent wines of Red Mountain. Definitely worth the effort to visit this beautiful eastern Washington location.
The drive to the winery is unassuming. Up, up, up the rows of grapes on either side. The parking lot winds up to top. But then you park and look at the covered walk leading to the tasting room and you know your are entering a piece of heaven. Rolling hills, gardens, the river below it is breath taking. That is just the entry way. Next is the tasting room where we found a wonderful variety of reds to dance on our pallets. But tasting was too quick. You really need to stop! Have a glass of wine, some cheese, crackers and savor them all at a table overlooking the valley. You can also bring a blanket and sit on the grass and enjoy. Yes this vineyard was made for your pleasure. Enjoy.
We've been going to Terra Blanca for years and the new tasting room is beautiful. We love to bring a picnic lunch, buy a cold bottle of wine, and sit at the top of the lawn bowl and admire the view. The kids just love rolling down that hill! This is one of the better places to just relax in the Red Mountain AVA.
They have been around and have a lot of wines. You can get some good specials in the fall. They have "wine educators" and you can choose their basic or higher end wines. You can also get 1.5 liter and bigger for several of their wines. You can get lunch and sit out on the patio and split a bottle.
We were actually going to visit Kiona winery and took the wrong turn, ending up here, lucky us! Stopped by just as they opened today and was met by Olivia, a very friendly and wine-enthusiastic young lady. They offer two different levels of tasting, we opted for the lesser priced wines ($25) as that's what we usually buy. All the reds offered were very, very good, to the point we couldn't decide what to get. They're currently offering if you buy six bottles they'll ship them to you free when the weather cools. So we opted for six to have something to look forward to this fall when they arrive to us in Tucson. The grounds and building are GORGEOUS, it would make a stunning place for a wedding.
The first thing that hits you is the beauty of the estate and views over the area.Like all the wines produced in this area it is rather pricey but they make some very good wines and a lovely fortified port style wine which I couldn't help purchasing. In my opinion the red wines produced in the area are very bold with heavy tannins and are best to keep for a few years to let those tannins soften a bit. Drinking them young is not something I would do. These wines remind me very much of Italian wines. Good wine maker with a great understanding of wine production and it shows with some of the impressive wines he is producing on this estate. Worth a visit.
By the time you make it to the parking lot you are ready to stop and just look for a few minutes. The view is impressive in that it looks out toward the Seven Horse Hills, part of the Columbia Gorge and a long way across grape vines, farms and some wheat country. The building, as stated in other reviews, is beautiful and the grounds were, even in March, worth a picture or two. Well worth the drive. We had fun with the wine tasting, thanks to Daryl Baker, Tasting Room Manager. Our best tasting experiences come when the winery employees or owners do more than just splash a little wine in a glass and wait for you to taste it. At Terra Blanca we did feel welcome, learned about the area and the winery, visited a bit and then did the tasting. Neat experience and ended up with Terra Blanca wine in our trunk and a case being shipped home.
Everyone should visit this site with its Tuscan beauty and setting, Wonderful wines and visiting is a treat.
Beautiful tuscan like setting with wonderful country views. this is a large and gorgeous winery inside and out, very upscale with outdoor seating for lunch or grounds for a picnic. The wines were good but what we enjoyed most was the amazing beauty of the winery.
What a fabulous location, an icon in the Benton area. It was early in the morning, so didn't have a chance to tantalize our tastebuds. We were on our way to Walla Walla for the afternoon, but plan to revisit Terra Blanca on a sunny day in the afternoon.
It really is perfect for what it is. The wine is very good. They have a great variety, and it is priced appropriately for different price ranges and tastes. If you live in the area, I really recommend becoming a member here. Its great for taking visitors to visit.
The location and views are spectacular - the owners have invested in a beautiful wine tasting experience. The young man who guided us through a flight of about 10 wines was extremely knowledgeable about the wines. The reserve wines are the ones you would taste. ok it's $10 for the tasting per person but they don't charge if you buy wine which you will end up doing as the quality is excellent - which you buy will depend on your own personal preferences - we were there for about 45 minutes and enjoyed all - wine is in the $25 to $50 range per bottle.Definitely worth visiting for those doing the wine tours.
Beautiful winery and tasting room. Friendly, knowledgeable staff and good wine. This facility is also available for special events.
