chelan estate winery and vineyard

We accidentally came across this winery while we headed out on a day trip to see a local dam. We drove up the gravel driveway and parked right in front of some grapes (see picture attached). We went inside and were immediately greeted by a very friendly lady (I'm sorry I can't remember her name!) but I do remember she was familiar with our hometown in BC and Calgary Alberta. Anyways, she poured us 4-5 samples of wine. We were thrilled to find out that there were reds since we really only drink red. Our favorite one was the Merlot and we ended up buying only one bottle. The US/Canadian order only allows you to bring across 2 bottles of wine per person and we already had 3 in our vehicle. She really knew what wine paired with what food and was quick to tell us some easy recipes she makes at home which was great! She knew her stuff and was super friendly. A pleasure to deal with! We haven't opened the bottle yet but we will be soon and we already know we love it based on the tester! There is a $5 fee for the tasting, but it is waived if you buy a bottle. Well worth the drive! The view from the tasting room was breathtaking. You have to go for the wine and the view!Thanks for the excellent service!

Chelan Estate is a diamond in the rough winery in Lake Chelan. The views of the lake and surrounding hillsides are spectacular. I recommend buying a glass of wine to enjoy on the patio, and then taking a bottle to go. The service is very personable and down to earth; the owners and employees are very nice and answer all your questions. While they were pruning grapes, they even took the time to show some kids the grape leaves and how they are tied up-such personal/professional/friendly service is something to be commended nowadays. I highly recommend the Pinot, as the owner specifically selected that plot of land for growing Pinot grapes.
