Wonderful view, quiet walk along the beach, a touch of the wild very near civilization. Lots of families enjoying a pleasant Sunday afternoon as the sun went down. Nothing to dislike

Interior walk up ravine with huge moss covered deciduous trees. Seaside walk to watch waves, passing ships. Tideflat walks when tide is out.

Lots of picnic tables, you choose a view or inland away from the cool breeze. Also has camping. The playground equipment is a bit outdated. Beach is natural setting

This park is in a great location near Seattle but it was very run down. Not at all up to the standards of other state parks. It was noisy from constant aircraft. The campsites were unkempt and the whole campground needed some upkeep.

When in Des Moines we always take a walk along the shore to see the boats and walk out the long pier to view the Puget Sound . Delightful place and it is free!

Like a previous reviewer, we were looking for a place to camp near Seattle. The campground is small. The sites are pretty level, but there is little shade and no privacy. They don't allow campfires. The bathroom facilities are Ok. The campground area has a run down feel to it. It met our need for a campground near Seattle, but that is the only reason I would recommend it.

We wanted to be close to Seattle, but not IN Seattle, so chose Saltwater. No hookups, as stated, but be sure when you come in with an RV that you have water. The spigots are rare. We were in I and 2, our friends could go down to the bathroom and fill up and turn around but we could not. So be prepared. And don't rely on the bathrooms. When we were there they were a bit unsightly. Airport noise didnt really bother me and shut down around 11pm

Saltwater State Park is in a narrow, lushly green canyon that slices down to the Sound. It's relatively small, but there is an RV camp at the upper end, and in the rest of the park there are picnic tables and barbecue sites. The access to the Sound is relatively small, as much of the beach on both sides of the park itself are privately owned, but you can still get to the water and there is a paved trail that leads north for a few hundred yards.

Drove by this most of my life without going into the park. Great water front park, with wonderful views and grounds

We visited Saltwater State Park a couple times. Each was a very different experience. The first experience was when my wife and I went SCUBA diving--or at least tried to. We went in May and the visibility was 2.5 ft (~1.1 m). We got down a little over 25 feet and gave up when we were holding hands but couldn't actually see each other. The dive shop later told us that once we got below 50 ft it would clear up a bit. Still, do not dive here in the summer.Our second trip was far different. We took our kids to the beach and went beach combing. It's a gravel beach, so you won't be sunbathing or making sand castles, etc. What you can do, though, is find a sandier patch and watch clams squirt jets of water at you while you stomp around, looking at pretty shells. My kids also had fun playing with a jellyfish that washed up on the beach. We also saw a seal about 100 ft (30 m) offshore, but it was pretty shy and didn't come in to say 'hi'. The beach has a very gentle slope, so anyone who wants to wade out in the water and swim can go just as deep or shallow as they want.If you stay on shore (or even the surface): 4 stars. If you try to dive: 1 star.
