wild horse monument

Can only be accessed via EB lanes and is closed during certain winter months. Large parking lot, rarely more than a few other cars there at most during any time I've ever been there. There's quite a steep dirt trail (beware of shale both going up and coming down) and you'll be a bit out of breath by the time you reach the top (unless you're an Ironman or woman) but it's definitely worth seeing. Great views. Like another reviewer said, no restrooms or services of any kind at the scenic view pullout.Watch out for rattlers in the summertime! I've never seen one but they are out there.

In the baren desert this is a piece of interesting artwork. In addition to the horses the artist invisioned an enormous bowl from which the horses were poured. If ever finished as the artist intended, this will be spectacular.

Steel silhouettes of wild horses on a desert hilltop. A unique sculpture. Definitely a photo oppertunity. A must see for horse lovers.

As you cross Washington state on I-90 going East or West you have no choice but to cross the mighty Columbia River. At near the 1/2 way point of your journey. The high basalt cliffs near vertical to the river below, where the bridge connects eastern and western Washington. This monument is simple but majestic. Best time to come is evening heading east. As you cross the river you can see the shadow of Wild Horses prancing along the basalt cliffs. My first experience was surreal and I couldn't believe what I was seeing. But once i got to the east side of the bluff I noticed the monument. Going to the monument can transform you to a simpler times, perhaps wild horses on this ridge. (Note: Yakima area does have a wild horse reserve). This is a fun stop, not a day journey but an inclusion into your journey. Get the great photo's, perhaps on a clear day Mr. Rainier,and don't forget the smiles. The night time is not very disruptive with the wind generators throbbing nauseating blinking lights. They are truly and eye sore in a region that doesn't need them.Enjoy.........

Better access and viewing going eastbound . We recently passed by in the early morning and the sun was just behind the horses making a good picture difficult with a point and shoot camera . This is a nice little stop to walk around and also get a fabulous view of the Columbia River . No facilities though .

Great little place to stop, strech your leg's and walk the dog. The Horse's are pretty cool also! The vie's of the Colombia river are great.

An iconic Columbia River attraction, and free too. Absolutely worth the stop. David Govedare is also a friend of mine, and I have 7 of his creations in my home, but not why I write the review. My family has always stopped here for decades. There is a spiritual element to all of David's contributions. The climb is worth it too, the size of the horses is pretty impressive up close. It is a shame that some people choose to vandalize this kind of art. Unfortunately people like this exist. I just hope they are not creating offspring. It took me about 15 minutes to pick up the trash people left on the ground in the parking area too, good grief.

Lots of parking and free! Scramble up a steep trail to where the horses are at the top of the hill. Great view of the Columbia River and the bridge crossing the river at Vantage. The horses are cool, but unfortunately have been hit with graffiti. A good place to get the kids out of the car for some fresh air and exercise. No services or restrooms.

It was great to see these steel horaes galloping along the ridge of hill along the highway. There is a rest area neRby
