I do not think I will ever get over how delicious their ice cream and apple cider doughnuts were! The ice cream was made right in front of us so naturally, it took FOREVER, or what seemed like forever. However, the wait was worth it! The ice cream was so rich and creamy. But if you are in a hurry, they have their homemade ice cream in the freezer and they taste just as good. My family and I were hoping for a tour of the orchards. Sadly, 1) it wasn't apple season 2) would have to book in advance. So hopefully, we will be able to go back and tour the apple orchard! And of course, get more of the doughnuts and ice cream! They of course have apple cider and other products but we didn't really care to try them. The staff were also super friendly, well not all of them, but most were!
This place has fresh produce, fresh pressed cider, freshly made morning donuts made with apple flour. Homemade ice cream made to order with plenty of flavors to choose from. This place is also a must when in town or passing by.
We were at a vintage travel trailer rally in Monitor (by Wenatchee) and casting about for some interesting local ice cream as is our wont. The Cider Works was listed so we took the nice drive up the river. The have some little funky machine that makes the ice cream you order in the size you want as you wait. Never saw that before but we are from the sticks so who knows . . . It was very good. But this great little place had fresh cider, cider slushies/smoothies, high end local cheese and you name it. I'm not a shopper but I loved it. Got a cider slushie also. And of course some fresh cider, and some hard cider. Being from Montana I was feeling deprived on the fresh fruit stuff.Loved it. Great service even though I was buying items one at a time as I ate them. Nice to sit outside and eat and watch the Columbia roll by.
We drove from our hotel in Wenatchee. It was a nice drive with good views. Cider Works is more of a store than a mill but has a great variety of offerings. Prices are good and all product is fresh. The cider is tasty and the hard cider even better. You must try their fresh salsa, I loved the hot. Fresh pastries, honey and other artisan goods. April was very helpful and a pleasure.
I heard the advertisement for the Cider Works while in Leavenworth and I thought we'd take the extra time to drive up and check out their hard cider. It sounded like they produced their own product on site and we hoped to taste the hard cider and fill a growler. Unfortunately they contract the production of the cider to a winery, have no samples, and can't fill a growler. I expected something different. It might be a good stop if you are passing by, but I'd not drive out of my way to see it!
This store has a number of items you don't want to miss. They make fresh donuts daily using apple flour, homemade ice cream made to order, fresh fruit from the crops outside, freshly made apple cider, fresh salsa and several other items. This is a great stop if driving through the area or to buy some groceries or something to satisfy a sweet tooth. They are open until 9pm in the summer and 7pm in the winter. They also have free wi fi if you want to hang out while having a cup of coffee. You will enjoy this little family run store.
It is so worth the stop, even just for the Ice Cream. But, while you are there, check out the local honey, the fresh fruit, the friendly staff and owners. Visit the sheep and llamas.Did I mention the ice cream? Made personally, fresh and great original flavors.
We stopped at the Cider Works on our way back from Leavenworth, and we were pleasantly surprised! Their Cider Slushies are really, really good, their milkshakes are thick and creamy and their ice cream is really good as well. We missed the cider pressing...apparently that happens on Saturdays, and the homemade doughnut making, but we did pick up some hard cider, which we look forward to drinking :)
A tourist map of the Wenatchee area reviews the spectacular Orondo Cider Works, where you can watch cider being made, buy it fresh, and get all kinds of fresh fruit from the area. A red barn-looking building on the side of the highway appears quaint, but our first steps in the door brought us into what looked like half produce stand, half gas station store. The cider press is behind a large glass pane with a small printed sign that says they press cider something like Saturdays 12 - 4pm. Not exactly easy to catch. They had one table (smaller than our corner grocery store) of fresh fruit, and several stands of convenience store items. Gallon, half-gallon, and pint-sized containers of cider are in the cooler next to the brand-name (overpriced) juice and beer. The highlight was my milkshake. While probably also overpriced, I asked for peach with some strawberry. The boy said they don't have the ability to calculate price for two fruits, so I just paid regular price. It was simply vanilla icecream with a scoop of fresh peaches and a bit of strawberry. It was truly delicious. It was $4 or $5. They also have what seemed like hundreds of various sauces, jellies, and other produce-based products including a line of honey-based lotion, lip balm, etc. It was fun to look at and we didn't regret going, but I have to admit we were disappointed at first. I doubt we'll stop again.
