Played this course some time ago, but I was blown away with how everything was completely first class. I would recommend this course to anyone. Obviously if it is good enough for the pro's to play on for the upcoming 2015 U.S. Open, then it's good enough for you or me. There is a slight wind that come off the ridge on the front side that'll set you back. Worth every penny and I want to go back and play again!

This past weekend, our family visited the Tacoma~Seattle area. During a stretch of sunshine in an afternoon, we drove over to Univeristy Place and parked near Chambers Bay. Let me rephrase that--we parked right next to Chambers Bay! There were many spaces alongside this golf course and walking path. The view from above was spectacular, and you can see where work is coming along in getting ready for the US Open golf tournament in June. Those who watch this golf major on TV will see what a beautiful location for a game of golf. The walking path was busy with families walking and jogging. It is a great place to be outside and enjoy amazing views. We also went inside the club house of Chambers Bay golf course. There is already US Open items/clothing available for sale. My husband got a few items ahead of the tournament. He remarked that he hoped he eliminated one long wait to get inside the vendor's tent while he is attending the US Open. Enjoy this special area and the many outside activities awaiting you here. It was a great day for us all.

A great golf course, walking trails and restaurant. I spend many afternoons walking the beach and other trails. Lots of fun.

It is a nice place to walk and enjoy the view. You can't enjoy the beach to much because of the noisy trains running along the the beach.

A must see if you are visiting the Tacoma area. The views of the south sound is just amazing. The route is around 3.5 miles in length with two nice restrooms. It's also dog and kid friendly with a cute little park for the kiddies. Oh, there are two nice hill climbs which could be strenuous for some.

This park has something for everyone. Fly a kite walk your dog picnic or just sit on the beach and enjoy the amazing view. You can tailor your experience from a easy stroll to a fairly difficult hilly walk.My dog loves the dog park and like that it's close to home with lots of parking.

The entire course is great, i can see why they are having the US open 2015 here, although hotels are running out so i would hurry, to make this not long. This is a great course!!

My husband and I walk the trail almost daily around Chambers Bay Golf Course because we enjoy the million dollar view for free. One sunny day in September our toddler grandchildren were visiting, so we took them to the lower meadow for a picnic lunch. There are a few tables available, some shaded by pine trees, and there is a huge expanse of grass for the children to run around on. The restrooms, always clean and well maintained, are conveniently located close by. After lunch we walked across the pedestrian bridge to the beach and waited for a train to come by because that is what our grandson really enjoys. Within about 15 minutes we heard the whistle blow and when the train got close, our little guy waved. To his surprise, the window of the engine slowly opened and out came a friendly arm with a big wave accompanied by the the sound of the train whistle. That made his day. If you get tired of the beach or meadow, you can always drive to the upper part and visit the Playground by the Sound. It has a sea life decor and is carefully designed with an area for the preschool age kids separate from the area for the older children. There are a couple of picnic tables under a shelter in the grassy field next to the playground and more restroom facilities close by. Parents can sit and enjoy the view while their children play safely nearby. You don't have to be a golfer to enjoy yourself at Chambers Bay.

I live close and have been there many, many times. It's a great place to walk, go down to the water and rocky beach, walk your dog, go to the dog park, go over the bridge, watch for trains, take the kids, fly a kite, throw a Frisbee...you get the idea! It is a fantastic park with a beautiful view of the water, islands, the bridge and Gig Harbor across the bay. It's a gorgeous place to visit, and it's such a large park, even if there are a lot of people there it never seems too crowded. Great community and close to Tacoma, Lakewood and Steilacoom.

Treat yourself to a memorable round of golf on a truly remarkable track. This is not for the beginner. Be prepared to walk, and, climb. Caddies are invaluable for yardage, club selection and local knowledge. Bunkers abound, beware. Location offers spectacular photo op. No wonder Chambers Bay was selected for the 2015 US Open.

Just a beautiful links course, incredibly challenging, with a hard core of serious golfers paying a measly $3,500 a year for unlimited rounds of golfing heaven. Each fairway, each green is tilted and folded but all balls naturally, inevitably, gravitate towards the waters of the Puget Sound on this Robert Trent Jones II designed, county-owned public golf course built on a former sand and gravel quarry. Take a caddie to appreciate the craziness of the narrow fairways lined by fescue covered dunes and canyons, the dramatic elevation changes from tee to green, and the monster traps. He will politely suggest you consider drives and approach shots targeting landing areas 50 to 100 feet away from where your natural instincts would have taken you in order to "ride the upper shelf, left to right, sir" or "the further you go up the side slope between those two ridges beyond the green, the closer to the hole you will end up". And yet it works. Again and again. And the elements challenge you in different ways on every hole. All too often in our recent three rounds, we were buffeted by squirrelly winds at the tee blocks, forced to drive 200 plus yards into thick, disorienting, early morning fog limiting visibility to one tenth that distance, soaked by Seattle sunshine and adjusted our putting for the heavy dew on the greens. Again, the caddies, working with the elements, suggest that "if your fade is working today, with this wind direction and speed, the percentage shot is to approach this downhill par 3 by fading into the wind, dropping your ball just there allowing it to roll up that ridge over there and break for the hole just there". No problem...In preparation for the upcoming 2015 US Open, all manner of tweaks are underway with three alternate greens, fescue roughs being trimmed, greens playing slower as the grass is being allowed to grow longer in anticipation of a hard cut back prior to the Open and new tee boxes being located. Big earth movers are actively regrading gravel around the course for the VIP tents and grandstand areas. Despite some muttering from the golfing faithful, the course is reducing to three days a week for the winter as final preparations are made for the Open. As their beloved Chambers Bay, their own hidden gem, evolves into a world class golf destination over the next few years, one can feel a little regret for its faithful.

There is something special about playing a golf course right before they hold the US Open there. What a challenging, yet beautiful golf course. Beautiful, natural links course with breathtaking views of Puget Sound. Can't wait to see how the pros handle the course!

Visited Chambers Bay Golf Course just to preview it before next year's 2015 US Open Tournament. What an awesome course with views of Puget Sound along the golf course. This links style course looks amazing and difficult with hillside uneven lies, monster sand traps, and mesmerizing water views. Right next to the golf course are public walking trails which are also pleasant. There are no fees to view the course but of course fees to play golf at the public course.
