As far as bridges go, this one is pretty neat. The glass is just so pretty. Get your kaleidoscope - like picture! It's also fun to look over the highway and out into Tacoma. It's a unique vantage point for looking around. 10/10 would walk over this bridge again.
What an unexpected delight! I didn't realize there was a "bridge museum" on the way to the Museum of Glass. Enjoyed the stroll!
The bridge spans the highway and links the Glass Museum to other attractions, including the Museum of History, Union Station (with Chihuly exhibits) and the Tacoma Art Museum. The bridge features Chihuly art overhead and in showcases along the side. This is a "don't miss" if you're in Tacoma!
We had half price tickets through our hotel, so that made the trip even better! I loved looking at all the glass artwork. Just beautiful!
The Bridge of Glass is included with the Museum of Glass and Studio which are all connected. On a nice day the Bridge affords a kaleidoscope of color. We took photos of the ceiling and the turned out so beautifully!
Look up! The prettiest parts of the Bridge of Glass are above your head in this covered bridge. The bridge is free to enjoy. It's between the Washington State History Museum and the Museum of Glass.
The bridge itself is not beautiful, and I really hate a lot of the giant glass vessels displayed (yet, I always look, and see something new). The highlight - and it IS a highlight, is the covered part, which is a ceiling filled with glass objects. Always beautiful, whatever the light. Always a joy.
The glass art is awesome and this pedestrian bridge is one of Tacoma's newest landmarks. Best of all, it is free to stroll and view the work of the world's greatest glass artist.
This is a great connection from the Thea Foss waterway to downtown. A must for out of town guests! Check out the hotshot grab a bit in the downtown area and check out the Art museumas well
I parked at the Museum of Glass (MOG) in the underground garage for $5. There is a door leading up to the bridge of glass or you can go up the other door leading to the MOG on the outside and walk up the steps and cross over the bridge. If you don't know what you are looking for, you might miss the overhead exhibit which has streams of sunlight coming through during the late morning to early afternoon. The bridge has two large blue sculptures by Chihuly and two large box like display cases lining one side of the bridge each with a different Chihuly piece. If you are a fan, go over to Union Station to see more glass including Chihuly's butterflies in the large window overlooking the MOG. These can be seen from the bridge.Want more free stuff? Go back down the steps to the front of MOG (if you did not come this way already) and there is a lot of Chihuly outside overlooking the water. All for the price of parking.
