Course is about 10 years old now and is beginning to establish itself. It's long and wide open. Many (many) fairway and greenside bunkers add difficulty. The greens roll as true as any I've played -- although I do find all the undulations on the green as a little 'gimickee'. Pro shop is OK -- bar is on the small side. Course seems to be well managed.
Not an easy course but every hole was different and interesting, despite it's farmland location. And for those who don't know Chambers Bay, that course has 1 tree.
This is a very nice golf course, hard but forgiving so you can feel good about your game. The course was in beautiful shape.
This is a true golf test, not your local muni. At the same time, it's a treat. Ample fairways and greens give you a fair chance to score but you have to avoid or get out of bunkers and handle the challenging and very fast greens. I live near Seattle but I'll make Wine Valley at regular part of every golf season; it's worth the trip.
Golf course was fun and the links style was different than the usual but most of the holes look the same.
Great experience. Fun and challenging layout. Perfect conditions. Fast and consistent greens. Staff very helpful. For serious golfers, a must play!
Stumbled upon this fantastic links style course out side Wala Wala, Wa. Course challenges you on the green in particular....fast and very undulating. I kept saying "nice 3 put for a bogey" to myself most of the round. Be sure to spend extra time on the putting practice green.
This course is so awesome, the wife and I planned a special trip just to play it. A unique, links style track carved right out of the center of God's creation... every hole presents a unique challenge-- no cookie cutter holes here! The multiple tee boxes present a fun yet competitive experience for everyone. Low handicap and high handicap golfers alike will enjoy the wide, compact fairways, the fast, true greens, and the majestic scenery. My only minor gripe is that the sand traps appear to turn to mud with just the slightest moisture. Next to Chambers Bay, this might be the best open to public course in the state. Combine your trip here with a stay and play package, and then do some wine tasting! Fantastic!!!
Lovely property. The fairways were forgiving but at the same time giving the experienced golfer a challenge with strategically place bunkers.
The rolling fields and surrounding Blue Mountains add a touch of natural beauty to the golf challenge at hand. Having golfed Bandon Dunes and Chambers Bay, I would say Wine Valley offers the golfer a similar links style experience without the high price and marginal weather one encounters on the Coast during the high season. If you love golf in a pristine setting, set your sights on Wine Valley. It's a must play for serious golfers of all abilities.
Course would get a good rating except greens are nearly unplayable. Run about 14. For a resort type course this is stupid. Staff were great, nice views and right in middle of some excellent wineries.
I have played this course several times and was excited to take my nephews from Kansas City and my brother from Australia to play this course. Fairways were in need of water and the greens were so thin with grass it was almost like putting on dirt. There was no beverage cart on the course and the water coolers were empty. This was around ten in the morning. I noticed that the crops around the course looked very green and healthy and they were being watered. If you want this to be an upscale course then maintain it properly
Course was in fantastic shape. The scenery is beautiful as well with the mountains off in the distance and the rolling hill farms immediately next to the course. The course is fairly challenging in the sense that a bad shot can lead to many more bad shots. Particularly some of the deep bunkers. The day I played it wasn't too windy, but given where the course is, I would imagine wind comes into play more often than not. The greens are FAST and true. Highly recommend you spend some time on the practice greens before heading out.The carts have GPS which is always nice. It's pricey at $105/green fees and $15 for a cart. The price includes use of the range. My limit for a round of golf is $75 usually, but I had heard a lot about this course and decided to break that limit. Glad I did.
Wine Valley offers such a great experience for golfers. Views are absolutely incredible, there are times you forget you are there to golf. Fairways are wide and forgiving, you probably won't loose a ball. But, don't take the course for granted. There are more than enough traps, and undulating greens, and, oh, yes, fast greens. If you are in the Walla Walla area, you MUST play this course. Fair track for women.
After playing Vets Memorial in Walla Walla for years, wine valley was a nice addition. It is spendy compared to the other public courses but you get good expansive views of the country, and the course is very well maintained. More of a links style course, no trees, lots of sand, very fast greens, but the grass on the fairways is great, and it is a fun course to play.
