I went running in the park on a Friday morning and it was quiet, beautiful, and peaceful. I was surprised to not see anyone else during my run. The paths alternate from gravel to wooden boardwalk to a soft mulch. Even though there were spots that looked sodden the mulch keeps it from being a muddy mess. Great birdwatching and the mossy trees lining the trail were gorgeous. I highly recommend spending some time here!
Right in the middle of Bellevue is this huge plot of land dedicated to a nature reserve. The park is very well maintained and has walking and jogging paths laid out throughout.
We often drive here and take our dog for a walk along the boardwalks and soft-earth/bark paths. Being close - sometimes only feet away - you get both a quiet woodsy and limited watery ambiance. At the end of the walk, depending on the day and time, Pace's Fruit Stand is there to offer fresh, locally grown veggies and fruit. Big bonus comes during blueberry season when the fields right there yield their wonderful fruit.
Great trails and quiet pretty close to a metropolitan area. We have enjoy our tramps through this boggy park.
I was there in November, so I can only imagine what a great place it would be to visit in better weather. Our hotel was near the fish ladder, birding trail, and lookout tower. A great place to take the dog for a walk and an unexpected treat to explore when travelling on business.
I never realized when I used to live near hear what a great place there is to just hang by the water.Since then - I discovered several little places down around the West side (I am sorry, can't remember actual name of them!) that are called 'parks' and are even places you can swim! on the Lake.Around the park is great hiking, beautiful homes and one of my fav places to walk in Seattle.Great tennis courts with a stunning view of the lake and West to Seattle! If you are staying in Seattle, get over to Mercer Island - it's not really a shopping place so much, but some great little restaurants - like the Pho place. And, hey, they even have a parrot store when you need one of those. ;-)This park is a fab place to take kids, too I think. There is a basketball court, and also plenty of green lawns for picnics!
Great park in-between Bellevue ( a suburb of) and Seattle. Great kayaking on the Slough, and connections to Lake Washington. Also trails go through the park, good for hiking and biking. Overall a good place to spend the day...
its a park, with a dog park, fenced and easy access, poo bags, dog equipment good footing with bark for no sliding.
head to Enatai Beach and grab a kayak to explore the slough. Watch for turtles and the occasional heron hiding in the greenery en route.
Nice sites, wildlife and a romantic place to take your honey. Wouldn't do it in the rain, but on a decent day it is fun.
This Nature park is within a short distance from Bellevue Square. A lush garden of Blue Berries is one of the attractions. They open a part of the garden every day for picking blueberries. You pick the amount of blueberries you want and pay. It is a fun activity for old and young. Though children enjoy it most as they can taste blueberries as they are picked. Being a weekend there was good amount of visitors. In addition to piking you can walk on the natures trails. All in all an enjoyable visit without payment. There is also a vegetable stand wherein you could buy fresh vegetables ( Seasonal)
Mercer slough is within short drive from either Seattle or Bellevue, and it is well worth the trip. Long winding shaded paths, calm water ways, wild blueberries and blackberries for the picking - our kids had a blast.
We visited during blueberry season and what a treat! 16 acres of blueberries available for you to pick from. They provide the containers and weigh out when done. $1.99 per pound was a great price. This would be a great adventure for kids, to pick their own blueberries. There were many kids present on the day that we visited and they seemed to be having a lot of fun. Pretty good snacking as well, while you picked!
This is a great place for an evening walk or run. The experience is very peaceful and enjoyable. I did not have the opportunity to visit the visitor's center. It looks like it would have been worth the extra time.
This area is just south of downtown Bellevue. There are a several trails winding throughout, but if you stay to the perimeter it's easy to make a nice 5 mile loop. Don't miss the salmon ladder and associated educational placard near the northern edge. There's also a Nature Education Center on the route worth stopping in to see.
