The museum was phenomenal. I was delighted by the volunteers that met me at the door and spent the time to tell me about the history and the exhibits. I loved the gift shop, and especially John Abbott, who showed me pictures of his home, "Oak Knoll" that were displayed in the museum. The personalization by the Museum vlounteers is to be commended. What an outstanding and diverse historical display. A MUST for all visitors!

Interesting historical displays in the unique setting of Banksia, a Winter Colony estate. It's worth it just to see the house, although the exhibits are worth seeing as well. Nice gift shop.

This is a small historic museum set in Aiken SC , the city is well worth a visit with some great eating places and a good Micro Brewery downtown.I visited the Museum a couple of times with visiting relatives , the staff are knowledgeable and very accommodating , the first visit was close to closing but we were not rushed and got a personal tour of the exhibits , the local history of Aiken is well presented as is the history of the Savannah River nuclear site are the relocating of Ellerton during the sites construction. The Museum is itself a great building and you can easily while away a few hours , all in all a great free attraction.

Learn a lot about Aiken and it's history frequenting this museum. Building itself is charming. Well worth a visit.

Nice historical perspective on Aiken County and surrounding area including Revolutionary & Civil Wars, textile industry, Winter Colony residents and community development and culture. Educational for residents and out-of-towners. Nice little gift shop.

I've taken my kids here since they were three and five years old.....they're now 23 and 25....and I can't count the number of times we've visited...... Informative, easy to navigate....and a lot of local history here. Wonderful docents, and lots of history.

We visited this museum as a family and were surprised by just how much there is to see. It was a wonderfulExperience with plenty to learn and see. Plan on bringing a little cash with you - when you see everything that's gone into the museum you'll be amazed at the fact that it's free and will want to leave more than just a buck or two.

Lots to see here and it's free! Felt free to wander at my own pace. Wish I had allowed more time. History, culture, nature, sports, all covered here!

This place is huge! Tons of Civil war history (even had a volunteer on staff that was a civil war expert). Very interesting place, and we really enjoyed it and was glad we stopped by. It is free of charge, but you can leave a donation as we did when we exited.

My favorite part of the Aiken County Historical Museum is the basement. When the town of Ellenton was leveled to make way for the SRS plant, news articles, pictures, life stories, and even physical parts of the town itself were preserved and are now in the Museum basement. We particularly like the drug store, complete with soda fountain and merchandise of the time. Such an interesting part of history! The rest of the museum is interesting as well, so plan on at least a couple hours to see everything.

I really enjoyed my time. I would prefer that they had an elevator for people like me who have a bad knee.

The Aiken Historical Museum is housed in a stately home that was built by the man who owned International Harvester Company. There are numerous rooms filled with antiques and information about all the important people who have spent part of their lives in Aiken County. There is no admission charge but you can make a donation at the entrance. The volunteer staff will greatly appreciate it!
