NWTF is building a premiere shooting range. Rifle, sporting clays, and pistol etc. Scheduled to open in the Spring of 15. My understanding is there will be a public price as well as a NWTF member price. Details have not been released yet to my knowledge. The museum is good for the kids.
The museum is wonderful for children and adults. There is much to be learned by all. The new shooting facility will be awesome, world class.
This was a great day for me and my kids. We went there as part of my daughter's visit with her girl scout troop. The building and the surrounding area are beautiful. The lake didn't seem to have many fish in it the day we were there, but the guided tour was informative, the displays and the animatronics were great, and we also busied ourselves with archery. I have to say, though, I think my youngest son and I had the most fun, going on a buddy hike and coming back with a sack full of leaves and rocks and other things.
What an unexpected pleasure. I had no idea there was so much to see and learn about our national bird! Fascinating. I loved it all, and the guide was so enthusiastic! This is a great place for adults and children alike.
We recently visited the National Wild Turkey Federation center and thoroughly enjoyed a very educational tour of the story of wild turkeys. We had a learned first hand about turkeys from the Indians through today's conservation program. There is an outstanding exhibit of turkey call boxes, a simulated helicopter ride and rifle practice.
The facility looks brand new, and is very nicely. done inside with exhibits, etc. They also have a retail store in the heart of town that's also worth a visit.
I've lived 8 miles from the center for 7 years but visited the the first time this year with my grandsons. They had a blast, especially with the helicopter exhibit! Later we went down to Edgefield and walke around. Great day together exploring.
Whenever we have visitors at our place in Abbeville, we take them here for a fun couple of hours. Very well done, beautiful facility & full of turkey facts, games & a store. Def worth the trip.
A trip to Edgefield SC is worthwhile in it's self but while you're there a trip to the Turkey museum is a must. There is a modest admission charge but this is a one of a kind museum. The turkeys on display are from everywhere. Quite a well done exhibit.
