We didn't have time to walk about but found viewing the gardens was better than I expected from other reviewers. Certainly worth the drive to be there.

Edisto gardens advertises its outstanding rose gardens and they are indeed excellent and well worth the trip if if you are a rose gardener, must be a 100 different varieties and almost all of them were in excellent condition. The main attraction for our family was the boardwalk through the cypress forest, about a half mile long stroll in a natural lowland forest filled with Carolina greenery. Nice picnic areas throughout. The general area around the gardens is a great place for walking or running. What was missing were the final touch ups - fair amount of rotten boards, some areas not accessible due to maintenance problems, some of the grounds needed landscaping, signs identifying the local vegetation would have been helpful. Overall, worth a look if you are relatively local. If you are a rose fancier, it may well be worth a trip off the beaten path.

My husband and I toured gardens in South Carolina. Anxiously, I watched for my first glance of Edisto Gardens! ...Ambiguous sign, got lost!...found the rose garden, weeds overgrown many rose beds. Many were dried up! ... looked for Edisto rose, could not find- sign was laying on the. ground...However, The Chamber of Commerce was helpful. But, I must advise the experience was not worth the drive and hotel stay.

This is a BEAUTIFUL place to stop and refresh, especially around April until the end of September. November is the Children's Christmas Gardens. VERY NICE PLACE. HIGHLY RECCOMENDED.

If time allows, a visit to the Gardens in Orangeburg is well worth the stop. The gardens are very well-kept and inviting. Each season of the year offers a different perspective. The rose garden is breath-taking during rose-season. The paths among all the trees and along the river offer a place of relaxation and beauty. If you're traveling through Orangeburg, SC, and have an hour - to stretch your legs - you'll be glad you stopped at Edisto Memorial Gardens.

We had been driving all night with only a stop for breakfast and gas. Found this little gem on Trip Advisor. Was a perfect stop to stretch our legs in the middle of our journey. Pretty easy to find, right off of I-26. My daughter(7yrs) and I are avid gardeners so the flowers were our favorite part. Great walkways and nature trails. Would love to come back and vacation here. Being from upstate NY, we loved the Spanish moss the most. Also South Carolina state hwy 21 cuts across to I-95. Most of it is hwy driving at 55 or 60mph. If you'd like to see a slice of South Carolina, I would suggest this route.

We have been thru Orangeburg on I 26 several times and finally took the time to go find the garden. The signs getting you through Orangeburg could have been a little better. An abundance of roses and walkways along the river. Hopefully the next time we are on I26 the azaleas will be blooming, and we will go visit again.

Pleasant gardens and woods with the Edisto River running through the park. We were there when azaleas, dogwoods and other flowering shrubs and trees were blooming. Extensive boardwalk along river, with one end still needing repair after winter storm damage. Quiet, peaceful place to stretch our legs while travelling I-95. Clean restrooms. I believe another section had picnic tables.

The Gardens are truly the high light of the town! No matter what the season, they are always kept up and beautiful. Admission is free. The rose gardens are well worth the stop when in bloom. The Christmas Lights are an annual tradition for our family.

Edisto Gardens Christmas lights display is by far one of the best around. It is hard to believe there is no admission fee to enjoy the beautiful lights. Edisto Gardens is also a great place to visit when the roses are in bloom. You can stroll through the gardens and then take a walk along the river on the boardwalk. Great place to visit especially for those on a tight budget.

Very pleasant gardens with azaleas and trees flowering when we visited. However the steady flow of traffic through the middle of the gardens detracted from the beauty and peace of this location.Free entry was a bonus

An unexpected stop on our trip. Overnighting on a drive north, looking for a place to visit. Well worth a visit with a nice boardwalk, riverfront scenery, azaleas, cypress trees, Spanish moss.Lovely walk for about an hour.

Great at Christmas and in the spring. The roses are beautiful and the area by the river is relaxing.
