oakwood lakes state park

Oakwood Lakes State Park is about 25 miles from Brookings, SD. The park offers many amenities that make it a great place to take a family, with kids of pretty much any age. We have used the camping cabins several times and love them--they're clean, convenient, and nice, the beds are good, and they're and in good locations. There are good biking/hiking trails. The horse facilities and activities are excellent. The lake is very good for canoeing or kayaking, and there's a nice swimming beach with a gravelly bottom, although in most places the lake bottom is thick black mud (yuk). All in all, we really like this park, we visit it often, and we recommend it.
