This vineyard is just a "stone throw" away from us. This is used to be a Seafood Restaurant and the owner has done quite well in changing over to vineyard. I would recommend this to anyone. Good wine for an excellent price. His wines have won several awards.
Different than your traditional grape wines, these muscadine based wines come off a lot sweeter than usual. Me being from the deep south I didn't mind the sweet taste but if you like your dry wines this isn't for you. Mom and pop operation for sure but very personal interactions and very good wine for sure. Would go back and would recommend
I purchased a groupon for Gregory Vineyards and got a very good deal for a tasting and tour for 2, with a cheese plate and a bottle of wine to take home. For what we paid, this was an excellent way to spend the afternoon. If you can still find the deal on groupon, i recommend this for a good afternoon activity. All of the wines made at Gregory Vineyards are from muscadine grapes, which do produce a very sweet wine. If you do not like sweet wines, you might not want to have a tasting here. They do have red and white wines which vary from sweet to more sweet. There are also 3 types of wine that are blended with Gregory Vineyards very own homemade moonshine. These were the best wines in my opinion. The atmosphere is very cozy and good for couples or a small group. You'll get a cheese plate to enjoy with your wine and then you get a quick tour outside of their whole wine making process. The owner was there on site and gave the tour personally. We went in January, so it was chilly outside, but in the spring, summer, and fall, this would be a gorgeous place to walk around outside.
My husband and I visited three different vineyards in Johnston County and Gregory Vineyards takes the cake! The location is so nice and the tasting was well done. We really enjoyed the wine and the cheese tray. The vineyards are an easy drive from Raleigh and totally worth it. The lady told us that they are opening up a full service restaurant soon. We will be returning!
I really don't like wine at all my wife got a tour from a friend so I went. Everyone there was very friendly and help explain the process. I tasted all the wine they had and love them even took home 3 bottles. Not a fan of the apple but rest are great. Will return a 5th time.
We love visiting different vineyards and wineries. Gregory Vineyard is at the top of our list. The owner was very friendly and helpful. Our hostess, Summer, was great. Great hospitality all the way around. We loved their wines and can't wait to go back again.
My wife and I recently stopped by Gregory Vineyard to take advantage of a Groupon offer. We were pleasantly surprised and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. They have a very nice piece of property and setup for visitors. The main building includes a tasting room with wonderful atmosphere. Tastings are done restaurant style, seated at a table with white linen tablecloths. The building is nicely decorated, with a selection of their wines, juices, honey/jams displayed along one of the walls of the tasting room. Our tasting included a sample of all of their wines, including a couple of their fortified wines and their wine slush's. A cheese and cracker plate, tour, and souvenir glasses were also included. We enjoyed the wine tasting and hearing about each wine as it was poured. Our tour guide Debbie, gave us a wonderful private tour (we were the only 2 ready for a tour at the time) which included the history of the vineyard, the wine making process and the addition of their new mini distillery. Debbie was great to chat with and it was evident that she truly loves her job. We concluded our visit enjoying a couple of peach slush's while relaxing in rocking chairs on the wide front porch with a great view of the vineyard. We will definitely be back!
I am a big fan of muscadine wines and after a bad experience at another local vineyard we were so happy to come to Gregory's. It's setup restaurant style with tables and they come to you. We were promply greeted and seated at a table. We purchased the cheese and cracker plate which had several different varieites of cheeses. Our server was very friendly and explained a short little background on each of the wines. Each of the wines were superb. I normally do not like the dry wines and even theirs was good and smooth. Be sure you try the new frozen peach bellini. Excellent! The grounds were very nice. Very large pond/lake. Covered patio with rocking chairs was a nice touch, we sat outside with our glass enjoying the beautiful afternoon. Unfortunately we did not get to take the tour because we were short on time but they take you out in a covered wagon. We will definitely be back when we are in the area.
What a delightful discovery! Friends and I were on our way back home (VA) when we saw a sign on the road that read "Gregory Vineyards". Deciding we were all up for one more adventure before returning home, we headed down through the gentle rolling hills and winding back roads of Johnston County. What's not to like at Gregory Vineyards ... the beautiful scenery, although bare in the winter's sun, still pleases the eye with its gently sloping hills, ponds, cattle and fowl; the kind and inviting owner, Mr. Gregory; the fun and exuberate staff; and delectable, mouthwatering wine grown on site. Bacchus would surely be proud! Don't miss this hidden treasure. We've shared as much "word of mouth" advertising as we can to promote this gem of a find and can't wait to return in the Spring!
I went to the vineyard specifically for the wine tasting since I love muscadine wines. My friends and I enjoyed the tasting. We purchased a cheese plate to enjoy during the tasting as well. We met the owner and his wife. Mr. Gregory took some of us on a tour of the vineyards and buildings in his truck. My friends had a lovely conversation with his wife while I went on the tour. Mr. Gregory shared his knowledge of wine making, and his enthusiasm for his hobby is infectious. We all had a wonderful time.
My wife and I recently visited Gregory Vineyards after purchasing a discounted Wine Tasting for two on Groupon. We had an excellent day sampling their wines, having cheese and crackers, walking on a tour of their facilities, and meeting their owner and founder. While Muscadine grapes are not our favorite we still fully enjoyed our visit to this nice little family style vineyard. It was a great day out for anyone who enjoys wine.
Went up to Raleigh for the weekend and we decided to try and find a winery. We stumbled upon Gregory vineyard which was about 20 mins from where we were. We were greeted politely and sampled all their wines. Mr.Gregory was very friendly and really wanted to share his wine enthusiasm with everyone else. He gave us a tour of the vineyard in a wagon which was pretty neat. Must have a Love-a-rita, its wine in "slurpee" form!
If you are coming for a visit or tasting try the love-a-rita! It is a mix of wine, cider and slushie (don't quote me on that), and it can be made non-alcoholic if you desire. It is so good! My favorite wine choices were Lee Love and Mary Elizabeth. We had our elopement wedding reception here three weeks after our ceremony. It was the perfect place to have a get together with about 80 of our family and friends. The two rooms made it feel close and helped guests mingle. They let us use vines and grapes from the vineyard in some of the decor! It was so cute! It had the vintage feel that I am very fond of, and we will be back to make many more memories there. The customer service was the best part. They were attentive, and did anything they could to make us have the best night! Thank you to the crew, and we will certainly be back when we run out of wine!
My wife. Teenage son and I walked in and told to have a seat. Three other tables were seated after us. Out of the 3 employees not a one of them said a word. The tables seated after us were being served. After sitting there 15 min and everyone being served but us and all 3 employees seeing us. We walked out and not a soul said a word. Will not be getting a local dollar from me
Sitting on the porch enjoying a glass of Mary Elizabeth or a Love A Rita, over looking the beautiful vineyard makes for a relaxing day. Spotted a Bald Eagle catching a catfish out of one of the ponds the other day. Mystery Dinners and Paint Nite are a few extra things Gregory Vineyards has to offer.
