Drove down to the boat ramp for a look at the lake while at Pettigrew State Park. Some of the swans were still there. What a view! Took some pictures. There is a dock for fishing and the boat ramp is concrete. There is a picnic area close by the boat ramp also and restrooms at the State Park.

A nice back roads drive of 3.5 hours (181 miles ) No traffic just had to slow down for towns. Beautiful lake that is big and plenty of room for power boats, jet skis, water skiing and lots of fishing. What is truly amazing is that the average depth of the lake is about 4 feet. I was able to walk out to grassy areas and fish for bass, birch or pumpkin fish. Beautiful location. WE look forward to going again.

Lake Phelps is a beautiful pocosin lake in eastern North Carolina. There is a public boat landing at the State Park. The lake is a shallow clear water lake that is great for fishing and swimming.

Its a little country, it is a little backwoods. Quiet and beautiful.
