This museum, in Dallas, NC, has extensive displays pertinent to the Piedmont area of North Carolina. Their staff is friendly and very knowledgeable and the gift shop is a gem! Also the programs they have for people of all ages are wonderful! Admission is very reasonable.

This is a nice place to visit to learn a little about the history of Gaston County. It's free to get in and they have special events from time to time. I think the neatest thing is that it's in an old hotel right across from the old Dallas Courthouse! Most of the exhibits are about the textile industry, and there is a carriage house out back that has a bunch of old wagons and carriages. If you like history this place is defiantly worth a visit.

My family went here Easter weekend. we enjoyed the hands on exhibits and the artwork and furniture. I especially enjoyed the bookstore. This museum has rotating exhibits and offers musical entertainment on the lawn behind the building. The entire organization serves as a community gathering place, and is not just a stagnant set of displays, but is an active and engaging part of Dallas and the county.

The grandkids enjoyed it, the gift shop was nice, a little too much walking for a Grandmother but overall there was alot to time put into this Museum.

Small but well done - good local history with interesting changing exhibits of special interest. I think they do nice out back concerts in good weather - and special events. Lovely little gem!

WOW, we visited with no expectations and came away pleasantly surprised. The museum is very informative and it's hands on attitude and approach are excellent. The depth of information and the sense of what mill town life was like gave us a new appreciation and insight. Pround to live in Gastonia.

Heading for Hickory the gas gauge told me we had to make a stop, fortunately we spotted the sign for the Gaston County Museum and headed for Dallas, NC. The area of Dallas is close to Gastonia, one of the areas historically attached to the cotton mills of yester year and not the sort of town you would generally head for on a sightseeing trip. But, the museum is a gem of a find and the curator an absolute gentleman, having spent his early years in the UK we had lots to talk about! The museum is built throughout the Historic Hofman Hotel, with a number of rooms on the second floor restored to portray a vision of the original Hotel. The first floor has a number of rooms from the 1800's and a fantastic exhibit on the cotton mill industry, at the rear a collection of carriages finishes of this amazing portrayal of local history. Not the place you would normally head for, but if your in Charlotte looking for days out, go find it now and see the new moonshine exhibit.Free to visit, donations welcome, NO Photography!!!!
