The people there love to share the history of the island. Very nice! It does however get crowded. The place is very small and not much parking.

Expect a 1000 sq. ft. display of life at the beach with emphasis on the early 1900's. Wrightsville Beach has a rich and diverse history of cottages, recreation and escape from stridency that is quickly giving way to gold coast development. This is a great look back at the good old days".

Perfect rainy day choice...learn something ! The "something" is the history of the island and some nature exhibits, It is free and friendly...and it won't take but an hour or so.

very informative on what things were like when the beach life started in the early1900's loved learning about all of it. Reminded me of the Great Gatsby. They talk about the trolley's going from Wilm. and about the Lumina Palace. Go see!

First we stopped at the Visitors Center next door and we were greeted by an exhuberant promoter of Wrightsville Beach. Then off to the museum. The small beach cottage is full of artifacts form the turn of the 20th century and bathing suit advertising through the 60's. The museum takes you from iit's hey day, great fire, and devastating Hazel of 1954, a bitter nasty storm every time I hear that name I remember the storm. Worth the price of admission!

We went in after listed hours, but it was still open. It is small, but very informative. We had our own personal tour guide. I believe she ran and operated the museum full time. There is no cost, but they do accept donations.

This is a small, free, museum when you first come onto the island. The ladies were very helpful in explaining this history of this trendy island.Take 15mins out of your day and stop by. It's worth it.

We have lived here for 10 years and have never been, what a great experience and will be back. The people that work there were great and knew a lot about the local area!

A quick trip through the history of Wrightsville Beach. An extremely nice lady gave my wife and I a quick tour through their museum and enlightened us with her personal knowledge of the area and the by-gone days of the beach. Very informative and personal.

We were lucky to have a docent here on our visit, by the name of Josh, who added to our enjoyment of this museum by sharing his incredible knowledge and obvious enjoyment of history of the area. Ask to see one of the videos if you have the time.

Great, friendly and welcoming staff in this very informative little museum which is a period cottage. The Hurricane Hazel exhibit was very interesting as well as the model buildings and charming furnishings. Bought a nice memoir/cookbook "Smidgens" and took a free aerial poster of Wrightsville. It's great to know the history of a place and this museum is an excellent and fun resource.

This is an absolute must do while in Wrightsville. Take a walk around the loop and stop in for a free tour. Small museum but very well run. A kudos to the immunity that supports it.

We came by on a Tuesday afternoon in May and were there for about an hour and 30 minutes. We really enjoyed our visit and will be back. We like that the museum is made from a 1909 Wrightsville Beach cottage. The cottage is furnished to look like it used to - furniture, clothes, etc. We got to see and touch the 1910 wool bathing suits, which was neat. We watched the PBS documentary about Lumina. It was interesting and I'm glad we watched it, but it was longer than we expected. Overall, I'd say this is a great place to visit to learn more about the history of Wrightsville.

Cute little house with lots of artifacts, pictures and info. The kitchen was my favorite! Knowledgeable staff person onsite, few shirts for sale, great porch, free parking, great quick stop in Wrightsville! Recommend.
