Just sae the Wizard of Oz. Was the best performed, orchestrated and produced show i have seen so far in carmel. My web purchased seats were supposed to be front row but i was assigned the last row. The Jan 3rd 2PM show manager near seat T101 made it right for me and i greatly apreciate it. My date and I cant wait to see alice in wonderland next.
The Wizard of Oz was my first show at the theatre and it certainly won't be my last. The small theatrevis beautiful and adheres to a high level of professionalism. The show is even piped into the restrooms so an unexpected trip doesn't mean missing any dialogue. Adjacent parking garage makes it easy to park and not brave the elements. There is a varied lineup of upcoming children, dance, and musicals shows.
We have been season ticket holders for Civic Theatre for many years. The plays are wonderfully performed by local people. The shows are every bit as enjoyable as the Broadway shows that come to Indy. The new venue is lovely and the view is good from any seat in the house. We take the grandkids to some of the shows, while others are more adult in their theme. The indoor parking garage is free and makes access to the theatre easy.
The Tarkington Civic Theatre is an intimate setting and a great way to see a show. I've seen a few musicals there and I've enjoyed them all greatly. Go early and wine or dine at nearby restaurants or bars. Free parking is great. Highly recommend!
Great new facility, excellent entertainment , excellent performances and performers. This is a theatre company that has existed for close to 100 years. Building is 2 years old. Actors are professional volunteers with varied and long term experience. Some shows are known professional entertainers, singers, dancers, musicians et al. Price is right for this high level theatre. You won't be disappointed.
We have attended several of this local theater group's productions in their lovely new home at the Center for the Performing Arts in Carmel. The plays are wonderfully presented by a seemingly endless supply of amazingly talented people of all ages. We have never been disappointed and look forward to many years of attending performances!
My son played a Sailor in "Anything Goes" this weekend at the Tarkington and it was our first experience there. What a beautiful venue!! Seating was comfortable and the place is beautiful. The reception area was very accomodating and the bar area was really cool as well. The stage and sound was state-of-the-art and I have to believe the best theatre in the entire Indy area. The show was awesome in it's own right, but what a priviledge to have a facility like this here in Carmel! Parking is a cinch as well.
Our group was here for the 5-day AACTFest. The acoustics, seats, sightlines, etc. were all very good. I enjoyed every show we saw there.
The Tarkington is a very prettily appointed smaller theater, with beautiful wood accents and chairs and curtains in a pretty shade of deep rose. It's one of those places where just walking in makes me happy.I believe there are about 500 seats, and it's more deep than wide. The first time we were there we sat in the front row, which can often be bad news, but here it was wonderful. An added plus is the free parking, in an enclosed garage that adjoins the theater.
My kids participated in the Musical Theater Saturdays program. Such a friendly and professional staff. The theather size is perfect for an intimate show. We will be returning to see Peter Pan and Beanstalk.
The theatre is quaint and beautiful. All of the seating looked comfortable and didn't appear to have any bad seats. You can tell that the theatre is well loved!
I like the comfy seats with enough room so you aren't fighting for elbow room. I like the sound quality. I like that you park in a garage attached to the theater. I like the deep red and dark wood decor. It's elegant and a great sized theater.
Such a great, intimate venue for plays. We just saw the Woman in Black and it was excellent. This was an eerie 3 character play that could make you chuckle and then scare you in the next scene. There is a small bar in the lobby where beer, wine, soda and mixed drinks can be purchased and these are allowed in the theater. There are some wonderful upcoming plays coming as well so check out the schedule.
We had season tickets for the 2011-2012 season and thoroughly enjoyed every visit. The theater is quite small, so the stage in very visible from every seat.
I recently saw Parsons Dance Company here, and the facility was exquisite. The absolute perfect stage for dance, enough space for a production but small enough for an intimate performance.
