We were never acknowledged during our entire time in the store - both walking around the gift store part and while standing at the counter in the wine tasting section. It was not like they were packed because there was only ONE other customer in the store, but apparently the salesperson has not learned the art of multitasking because she never even said hello to us. We left without purchasing anything at all (why give money to a business that ignores potential customers) and will never go back.

Once you enter into the land of Oz you find yourself in a nook where all of your favorite OZ memories have been crafted into yummy wines! With two free tastings it will leave you wanting more! For a small amount of money I was able to taste several wines! I always leave with at least one bottle!

Making out way to Wamego from the I-70 trek takes about 15-30 minutes each time, but the trip is worth it for special occasions. The winery is next to the Oz museum- a real treat for "Wizard of Oz" lovers. The winery is set up to permit taste-testings. The wine often uses a base from grapes grown elsewhere, but some skilled adjustments give the wines enjoyable taste. The best thing are the labels with Oz-themed names... a robust red "Squished Witch" is a big seller; the "Good Witch" is a fruity while; "Flying Monkeys: and "Angry Trees" are some others.. 26 in all. Taste what you want, buy what appeals to you.

Not the greatest wine in the world, but plenty good. Cute place, friendly staff, fun tastings. Lots of very interesting names for wine and neat goods to purchase.

Out day trip to Wamego was a short one and left us decided we need to come back. Just an hour and a half drive west of Kansas City is a beautiful little town near the Kansas River with a Historic Main Street..and the darling OZ Winery. Very well organized tasting options, with a list of 'Wizard of Oz' themed wine names. All of the wines were surprisingly pleasant with nice finishes. There is a small tasting bar and 3 small tables for enjoying a 'must try' flight of 3 to 5 selections. My suggestion is to strategically plan to make different selections with your partner so you can share and taste all of them. But be warned, with generous 2oz tastings, you'll need time to recover before hitting the road. Maybe a walk in the nice City Park or some excellent food up the sidewalk at Toto's Tacos. The wines average $20 a bottle, but they are excellent, original and worth the price. We left with a box and vowed to return when our supply is gone-which probably won't be long. The winery does ship orders, but a trip to visit this quaint town and the winery are a definite 'do over!'

We stopped here after the Oz Museum to see how Kansas wines compare to home. We are from the Finger Lakes Region in NY, which is famous for its wines, so admittedly, the bar was set pretty high. I didn't love any of the 7 wines we tried, and the only way to try that many was to pay $12 for a flight. We are used to paying at most $5 for a wine tasting (and having that refunded if you buy a bottle) so the price was shocking. The wines all had Oz themed names and we loved all the different artwork on the labels- it's a shame they didn't have labels available for purchase, we would have bought several. The employee was pleasant enough and the store had some nice things to look at. As other reviews have indicated, this is definitely a tourist trap, all the prices were extremely high. But, it was a nice experience and I'd probably stop again if we came back.

Good wine tasting. Fun attraction for visitors. Had a great tasting of wines and cheese and crackers. Cute shop too!

The staff were lovely and knowledgeable about their wine. The store had a nice selection of wares, in addition to their wine. The wine had great names and was pretty good. My one complaint was that the wine was too expensive for "novelty" wine

This was an added bonus to the detour that I took the Oz Museum. You were able to sample 2 wines for free. I really was only looking for something similar to a riesling so this was not a problem for me. The prices for a wine flight weren't bad either. I ended up purchasing Witch Gone Good. Wish I would have picked up a few more bottles. The wine wasn't super cheap but definitely reasonable for a small winery.

This place was originally recommended to me. The wines are very good and I was very happy with the Surrender wine. The shop also has a few neat gifts but I would go for the wine.

We saw the billboard advertisements along the road and though we'd give it a try. The opening staff was somewhat rude and seemed distracted at times. She literally left us mid tasting and sentence to attend to other customers that walked in. The wine tasted decent and we ended purchasing a bottle for the kitschy label. If you're passing through the area and need something fun to say you did then by all means visit. They do offer a military discount which is a plus.

After we finished at the museum, we stopped in at the OZ Winery to taste some of their offerings. The selection is limited and the majority of their grapes do not come from their area however, they have cute labels and names along with other souvenirs ready for purchase. Our hostess was a lovely young woman who was very knowledgeable. Don't get me wrong......I did purchase 4 bottles of wine and not just because the labels and names were cute....I would stop again if I were ever in the area.

We did end up buying one if the wines because we like the label but the wine itself wasn't very good. They give 2 free samples of wine and then you can purchase more.

We do not know where in Kansas Dorothy Gale, of the Wizard of Oz fame, lived or was from. But it could have been near Wamego. And we do not know if Dorothy or the Wizard drank wine, but they could have. And if they did, they should come to the Oz Winery. They make some really fine tasting wine here. They have combined the wine with names that are suggested by the Oz books. Like the Emerald City Light that I tried and bought. If you like wine, with a little bit of a story, stop by for a taste. It is close to the Interstate. Plenty of parking. There is a Oz Museum nearby that talks about all things Oz. Besides the wine, they have glassware and tee shirts and other things for sale.

What a great idea, and so well done! One always sees the real essence of our country when one ventures off of the interstate! A lovely diversion when driving through Kansas!
