My wife and I walked through the Lanai Art Center on a recent one-day excursion to Lanai. We bought some ornaments and trinkets here. The items for sale here are of high quality. The Lana'i Art Center was founded in 1991 and has the only multi-purpose community arts program on the island of Lanai. The art center is dedicated to providing arts and cultural experiences for all residents and visitors through ongoing classes, workshops and studio access. The newly renovated art gallery at Lanai Art Center now features art from over thirty local Lanai artists. Their work ranges from woodworking, ceramics, original prints in watercolors, oil as well as photography and hand crafted jewelry.
All profits go to art programs and to the schools. All art is made by local artists. Amazing art inside.
very kind staff. very helpful and pleasant interaction. fun local crafts all made by local artists. Would def suggest a visit!
Wasn't open posted hours, felt like it was trying to be too many things; craft shop, art gallery, thrift store. Art work hung too low and too high, people were arguing about where and how hang paintings, from what we had no choice but to overhear, it felt like too many chiefs and not enough indians, felt uncomfortable and left quickly.
My aunt, cousin, her bf, and I stopped in to browse and I came out with a few pieces made by the kids, one was a clay piece ornament that looks like a foot! I'm glad we stopped in. Good to see an art program for kids and adults alike! I truly hope the new owner of the island he keeps this place running no matter what part of the island it is moved to. Take care of the land and its people and it will take care of you! Mahalo!
Local art to support program for local students, fun to explore, there is always something different
Okay - nice works of local artists. Handcrafts, paintings, photos, weavings.
The Lanai Art Center features the collective works of many local artists in a variety of mediums: photography, painting, sculpture, wood, jewelry, and other collectables. It is worth the visit as you walk through the quaint Lanai Square.
a welcoming atmosphere and dedicated staff awaits your visit. take time to see the crafts made by local children in the after school program sponsored by the Art Center.
We always stop here on our occasional visits to Lanai by ferry from Maui. Each time, we look at everything and always find something new and interesting to purchase. Great place to get photographs, postcards, jewelry, etc. made by adults OR original artwork and homemade items made by Lana'i's keiki. Have fun wandering through!
