Wide sandy beach with great views to seasonal whale watching. Limited parking at South end in Wailea. Great for intro-shore diving and scooter scuba diving (check out local dive shops). Taken lots a walks early in the morning when it's still quiet and cool.
The beach seems to have changed since the last time we were here. It looks like a lot of the sand from the beach has been washed out. Still a great beach.
There's not much I don't like about Keawakapu beach. It's very popular so I guess at times it can be very busy. We prefer going earlier in the morning and then again at sunset. It's less crowded and also the nicest times of the day imo. Long stretch of gold sand and blue ocean. A great place to stroll on the beach or along the walkway past all the hotels and condos. This year the beach was almost all gone due to some storms. This is the first time I've ever seen it like this, still was beautiful.
Ooops, okay I guess this review doesn't help keep it a secret, but Keawakapu Beach is a gem, and surprisingly underused. Do be careful, there's a reason that parts of it are empty, there are lava rocks right beneath the surface in some areas to the left, but on the main beach near the parking it is awesome. Sandy, and pretty quiet, especially in the morning. Have fun!
If you love the sand, surf and dogs this is the beach for you! This huge stretch of beach will let you find a little piece of beach front real estate for yourself as long as your willing to walk a bit. If you do not like dogs i do not suggest going here as there usually are a lot of locals playing and walking their dogs along here.Just remember they are not on vacation this is their normal walk or playtime for their dogs, respect that. Great snorkling if you know where to go, and somedays you may even get lucky enough to catch a glimpse of spinner dolphins playing.
This beach is located at Ekahi Village and is wonderful for families or those looking for a quiet spot. There are some private homes located here and the snorkeling is good. Beautiful find sand with lava outcroppings.
Park in the lot across the street, mostly in the shade, with Handicap parking. There is a cold shower by the beach access. Good sunset beach also. You can walk a couple of miles along the beach walk too.
This was our favourite and regular beach! Beautiful sand, very few rocks and an extremely gradual entry into the water. There is an outcropping at the one side that is great for snorkelling. Not a ton of parking, so you should be there early if you want a spot nearby. There are no facilities except one portapotty that is starting to get sketchy and is due for an emptying and cleaning.
We love Keawakapu beach! It is a beautiful stretch to walk on. Endless sand... Great snorkelling and swimming. Rentals for SUP's etc at the Mana Kai. Breathtaking sunsets too!
It's a hidden gem. Great for walking, swimming, boogey boarding and watching the sunset. Good for families.
Beautiful sunsets! Only able to visit once during our trip, but wish we had more opportunities to hang out at the beach because it is a nice stretch of beautiful sand an ocean.
This beach is in the southern most part of Kehei and has two of Kehei's best restaurants right on the beach - Sarentos and 5 Palms. The main access is a gravel lot behind the Mana Kai Maui Resort and if it is full (typically on weekends) you can park across the street. There is a porta potty and shower facilities. Mana Kai also has a convenience store that comes in handy and a beach gear rental shop - both are open to the public. There are some small tide pools on the right hand side of the beach and to left the beach stretches on for a long ways. We have not snorkeled here but it looks like it would be good in the morning. We often go for sunset and the kids boogie board until we can't see them any more. The first night there we were also greeted by a whale and her calf playing off shore.
The sand here is very fine and soft. I visited a lot of beaches on Maui and in my opinion this is the best. The snorkeling is great. I saw more turtles here than anywhere else. They have tons of public parking, showers and equipment rental.
you can see whales from this beach. good snorkel too. a shower to rinse off, a porta-john, family friendly, but parking can be a bit tight
There is lots of beach space here, and it doesn't get too busy either. The waves vary in size, but they are not the kind to surf on. The sand if soft and there is no coral.
