The Cable Natural History Museum is very small, but the "Superheroes of Nature" exhibit is interesting for all ages. It is located in downtown Cable and easy to find. We spent about an hour at the museum. We toured with our children (ages 5 and 8), and their grandparents. We all learned some interesting facts about nature:A spider's silk, if woven to the thickness of a pencil, could stop a 747 jet.Bats can detect an object the size of a human's hair.Salamanders go through metamorphosis.Bats eat 1,000 mosquitoes an hour...The admission price is $5 per person, with children under 18 free. This seems to be a fair price. We went on a Tuesday when admission is free. We were asked for a donation, though. We took an optional knowledge quiz before entering. We got a lot more out of the experience because we were looking for the answers to the quiz. I don't think I would have been as interested without the quiz. After we finished the exhibit, we took the same quiz again. We handed it in for a comic book. I thought it was funny that the lady who gave us the quiz didn't have/know the answers. We figured we got them all right in the end.I would recommend this stop to others. I don't know if I would drive that far to get there, though. It's all indoors and would be a good activity for a poor weather day. They have nice bathroom facilities and a small gift shop. We enjoyed the stuffed animals on display. They were interesting.

This little museum is one of the best we have seen. They have an remarkable display, although small, of local flora and fauna, but their most exciting displays are the ones that run one or two months on some specialized topics. Children love this place! Lots of interactive presentations, forest and animal sounds playing, etc. Their slate of monthly activities is also impressive with lots of field trips, and lectures. There is a small fee but Tuesday are free. The bookstore has lots of offerings too. We recommend it highly.

This little museum is well worth the $5 price of admission. The displays have something for people of all ages, especially children, and you'll learn some amazing facts about "The Superheroes of Nature" . That particular display is housed in just one room but there are a few other areas to explore as well as a gift shop and it's right on the highway with a giant dragonfly sculpture out in front.
