ehlenbach's cheese chalet

Had to stop at Ehlenbach's on way to Dells. Have been visiting certain Wisconsin cheese shops over the years and this is alway a must do. They stock dips, curds, sausages, Door County wine, spreads, etc. The best thing is being able to sample first before I purchase. I will admit service isn't always the best...the staff isn't necessarily too welcoming, and you really have to ask if you want a sample, they don't offer. But considering how good the cheese is, I just tag someone down and get the job down. Now prices tend to be on the high side but the selections can't be beat and the cheese is wonderful. Purchased a orange cheddar, harvarti and my favorite favorite blue....it's so creamy and decadent it's worth the $15 per pound every now and then.

Such a nice stop in Wisconsin. We will never pass this place. The cheese is just too good. I didn't know that at I had eaten bad cheese my whole life. We bought the 2-year old aged cheddar. WOW! Makes a great gift, also.

I travel to Wisconsin (a very large state, by the way), and I always plan my trips around a visit here. Great people, great selection, and prices much cheaper than local stores where I live. Make sure you take a cooler to hold all of the food you never planned on buying!

This store is great. It has an amazing selection of Wisconsin cheese at non-tourist prices. You can sample varieties like olive cheddar, horseradish and chive cheddar, bacon and onion cheddar, apple cheddar etc. There is even a section of local, award winning artisan cheeses. Local Wisconsin preserves, wild rice etc. can also be purchased here. Staff are very knowledgeable, helpful and friendly.

We stopped here on our way to Chicago because my husband said we had to buy some "Wisconsin Cheese" if we are in Wisconsin. They had a great selection of cheeses, summer sausages, and other things you could buy. They will let you sample before you buy and even have a "Top Ten List" of cheeses that are popular. We walked out with 3 different kinds of summer sausage and 6 different types of cheese-Very tasty!

This is a great stop on the drive from Madison to the Dells. It is an easy stop right off the freeway and the store has a huge selection of cheeses that you can sample before buying. They also have a great selection of other items including mustards, pie fillings, jams souvenirs, etc. The customer service was top notch as well.

Stopped here for some local Wisconsin cheese on our road trip through the state. We were surprised to see the store had a large variety of items. We were able to sample cheese before buying. Store sold everything that you would need for a snack.. cheese, crackers, meats, jams, mustard, etc. They also had lots of adorable souvenir items. Love this place!

Stopped here on our way thru Wisconsin. Great selection of cheese, pickles, sausage and jams. Reasonably priced. And they have ice and cooler bags if you need it!
