I have camped here a few times now. Goose Island is a fairly large campground with lots of scenery, trails to walk, canoes to rent, etc. They have a very small camp store, fill propane, sell ice, etc. The sites in the way back are the best (for travel trailers). I just stayed in an electric only site (mid 200s) and the issue there is that the power pedestal is roughly 30 feet away from the camper. I really wanted 30amp service so I had to go to Menards and buy two 30amp extension cords. Again, beautiful campground. Not the cheapest.
Pretty place to check out, you can walk right up deer almost (don't feed them). You have the river but I feel from when I worked there (10+ years ago) it was more of a Party then Family camping trip. I seem kind of tight and trashy but still pretty. Its worth to try it out or at least for the day
I camped out one night recently on a whim. I set up my tent in a semi-private spot and enjoyed a gorgeous sunset over the river. This campground keeps their bathrooms and showers very clean -- much appreciated! Next time I'll bring my bike and kayak. I'll be back!
I love Goose Island, they have a lot of places to have parties. Volleyball nets, charcoal grills, and great places to sit and fish. They also have a campground out there. A great place to take a walk and enjoy the outdoors.
Short drive off the highway and you are part of nature, great trails, natural beauty hard to beat. One of my favorite places to take my dog for walk, any time any season.
Part of me wants to keep this place a well-kept secret, but another part of me wants to share the magic. Tis is a beautiful park right along the Mississippi River. I have been here in the summer and winter (spring and fall to come some day). While it is gorgeous in the summer, my recent experience there this winter was truly magical. While others were snowshoeing, cross country skiing, and ice fishing, I had the awesome experience of getting to feed birds out of my hand at a feeding station right along side of the road. Thanks to whoever set the station up and keeps it well-supplied. We brought our own food and were delighted to have tufted titmice and chickadees eat out of our hands. It was also an awesome photo-op. What a special, special place. Wish I lived closer...I'd go there all the time if I did!!!
